E3 2007: Sony drops more Home and PlayStation Network details photo

Earlier today during the E3 Media & Business Summit, Sony finally laid out more of the awaited details of the PlayStation Network. They listed off new content and features for their upcoming 3D community called Home, as well as some upcoming games that will be made available in the coming months.

New PlayStation Network games include a game called echochrome, which uses the SIXAXIS controller, a new action game called PAIN, and a new high-definition game from the classic PlayStation WipeOut racing series, called WipeOut HD. They also showed off the online multiplayer Warhawk as well as SOCOM US Navy SEALs: Confrontation. These titles make up some of the 40+ titles that will be available this year in North America on the PlayStation Network.

"Our goal is to deliver the most compelling entertainment experience to
our PlayStation fans through PLAYSTATION Network," said Jack Tretton,
president and CEO, SCEA.  "The interactive content sharing features of
PlayStation Home, combined with the library of innovative downloadable games
and entertainment, truly push the boundaries of our customer's imaginations
and deliver on the promise of an integrated content and community service."

As for Home, some new functionality has been announced for its upcoming fall debut. Players will be able to launch games from the 3D interface, and multiplayer games can be launched "together" with another "visitor." Also, the newly designed Home Square replaces the PlayStation Home lobby that we heard about earlier this year. Lastly, four new Personal Spaces for Home were shown, including a beach house, a Norwegian cabin, a New York-style penthouse, and a traditional Japanese home.

I like that launch multiplayer game with friends feature. I might actually USE Home because of this.

I really liked that echochrome game. That whole turning the stage to where your guy ignores holes and stuff was pretty sweet. It's a shame it didn't look any better than a web-based flash game or a Wii game. The gameplay seems pretty solid though. $5 and you have a deal Sony.
