E3 2007: Sonic the Hedgehog and Golden Axe on XBLA... like NOW photo

While gamers will need to wait months for most of the games shown at Microsoft's E3 conference, two titles will be available tonight (or "tomorrow," if you're one of those people) on Xbox Live Arcade. And not just any two titles, but Sonic the frickin Hedgehog, and Golden frickin Axe.*

Pricing and features are not available yet, but when they are, I'll be sure to let one of the other editors update this post. I'll be busy drop-kicking thieves beeyotch!

* "Frickin" added for emphasis and is NOT part of the actual game title, but it should be...

[Update: Both games are available for 400 MS points each with Golden Axe weighing in at 58MB, and Sonic at less than 30Mb.]

[Update 2: Golden Axe features online co-op. Hit the jump for the complete achievement listing for both games.]

I think hearing that Sonic is on XBLA right now was my favorite part of that press conference. Maybe the Mass Effect release date.

Multiplayer is confirmed, I just bought it.

it took forever to download, must be because of the blue dragon demo.

I'm ready and waiting for someone to play co op with me!

Aren't both of these titles already on the Wii's Virtual Console?

@DrScience123

Can you play Golden Axe on the virtual console with a friend over the internet? No, you can't.

But you can on the 360. Epic win right there.

58 mb for Golden Axe, and 30 for Sonic? Online and achievements I'm sure make the download a little bigger, but Christ...

@promagnum: These at least have acheivement points and multiplayer via live so it's not a direct translation like the Wii at least. So I'll pay for these. :)

58MB for a mega drive game? Online play or not, that's a surprisingly big size.

Maybe not hours... you'll have at least 10 out of 12 achievements in Golden Axe about 12 minutes...
