E3 2007: Rock Band to get weekly downloadable content, first songs announced photo

We've gotten word from over at Gamespot that Rock Band will be recieving weekly downloadable content of new songs. First up is going to be the infamous band The Who. Their 1971 album Who's Next will feature single songs for download, mutli-song packs, and the entire album available for download. Yep, you read that right. Entire CDs will be available for download in Rock Band.

Next up, two things were announced: Metallica's "Enter Sandman" will ship with the game, and Little Steven from The E Street Band is signing on as Rock Band's chief music advisory board. Now, expect to see every Springsteen album to appear on Rock Band. Being from Jersey, this is A-OK by me.

Also announced were the first 15 tracks that will be available on the game. The following songs will be the original recordings:

*The Who - "Won't Get Fooled Again"
*Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't Fear the Reaper"
*The Ramones - "Rockaway Beach"
*Bon Jovi - "Wanted Dead or Alive"
*Nirvana - "In Bloom"
*Stone Temple Pilots - "Vaseline"
*Weezer - "Say It Ain't So"
*Foo Fighters - "Learn to Fly"
*The Hives - "Main Offender"
*The Strokes - "Reptilia"
*Queens of the Stone Age - "Go With the Flow"
*David Bowie - "Suffragette City"

These ones will be covers:

*Mountain - "Mississippi Queen"
*Black Sabbath - "Paranoid"
*Rush - "Tom Sawyer"

Now, I knew I was going to be buying Rock Band before, but damn -- Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, and Bowie? Now I just can't wait. Here's hoping for the full album release of Slippery When Wet.

They should make a game like this except instead of rock and roll songs it would be for religous hymes... just imagine being able to ROCK OUT to songs that Jesus himself would condone, "THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE....IM GONNA LET IT SHINE!"because Jesus is the The SHIT

I totally made little noises and hand clapped when I saw Tom Sawyer. Note that I am alone in my room. Best Game Ever.
I'm a happy gamer.

While I agree with your overall sentiment, please don't use CAD to illustrate it.

Just... please.

The man covering for Geddy Lee's vocals better start by getting kneed repeatedly in the scrotal area to reach his almost womanly high vocals.

Not to hate on Geddy Lee, who is considered to the best lead Canadian vocalist ever, at least fifteen space years ahead of Nickelback.

I love the guitar hero's, frequency/amplitude... for some reason, not overly excited about this one. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm sure I'll buy it because I'm stupid like that.

Hope it's good!

Smart move re-recording Tom Sawyer. Rush can play like no other band on the planet, but after all this time I still can't stand the pinched squeal of Geddy Lee's fucking voice.

I’ve seen a million faces, and I’ve rocked them all!

I want this game, dead or alive. Wait...that doesn’t make any sense. Well, whatever. I’m gonna start practicing Roger Daltrey’s earth-shattering scream from “Won’t Get Fooled Again”...

What I really want to know is how are these peripherals going to be packed?

Can I use the GH2/3 controllers with this title?

Totally looking forward to it, but damn, that's going to be quite big package.
