E3 2007: Kojima talks Metal Gear Solid 4 at the Sony press conference photo

Continuing an impressive and successful E3 Media & Business Summit press conference, Sony proudly introduced legendary Metal Gear Solid creator, Hideo Kojima, to discuss MGS4: Guns of the Patriots. Kojima said that this will be the very final chapter in the Metal Gear Solid story, one to tie up all the loose ends and bookend the saga. Kojima also claimed that this would be the last Metal Gear game that he'd direct, but ... Kojima always says that.

We were then treated to a brand new trailer, voiced with the English cast, for Guns of the Patriots, shedding more light on Snake's final mission. Detailing how Snake's objective is to find and eliminate Liquid as he plans an insurrection in the Middle-Eastern setting we've come to know and love, the trailer is epic, and sure to be posted on Destructoid very soon. The whole thing ended with a beautiful, albeit brutal, battle between Raiden and Vamp, which led into the glorious news that MGS4 would see a simultaneous worldwide release in early 2008. As a final point, a demo was also hinted at surfacing in Japan sometime in the near future. 

The game looks gorgeous (far better than the awful screengrab I nabbed) and this old MGS fan is stoked as hell for what promises to be an awesome feather in Sony's cap, at least for the time being. Stay tuned to Destructoid for more news from the ongoing conference.

Anyone notice that Kojima said nothing about MGS4 being a PS3 exclusive, yet Mr. "The PS3 Is Dominating" Tretton kept repeating it in his typical broken record style?

Also, did anyone notice the trailer had no mention of the PS3? Not even a logo? If they really wanted to market this game as an exclusive wouldn't they have it pasted all over that shit, especially if it's going out as is?

I find it hard to believe this would be the last Metal Gear evars,ttlysrsyouguys. People bought the PS2 for MGS2. People are buying the PS3 for MGS4. And they don't want to make any more of them? Right.

Kojima stepping away from the series? Sure, I can see that. Not the absolute end of the games, though.

there is nothing for Ron to respond to. Remember the first trailer where they praised sony and the whole console war. None of that was present. Kojima looked like he knew something everyone else didn't. Hold on before you guys go cumming all over your ps3 this isn't over yet.

i'm just glad that it will come to the ps3. [as in i don't have to worry about the buying a system to play the game on] i own all 3 "next gen" systems and i would rather buy it for the ps3 than the 360. all that said. i've never had the time or patience to play any of the metal gear solid games, and this might make me start going back through the library. now to free up time.....

Metal Gear-MSX ,PS2and NES
Metal Gear 2- MSX and PS2
Metal Gear Solid- PS1 and PC
Metal Gear Solid 2- PS2,PC and Xbox
Metal Gear Solid 3-PS2

out of all these games only one is for the playstaion 2. I don't know where everyone is getting the whole idea there is such a strong alliance to playstaion when there really isn't one. The words "simultaneous worldwide release: are really standing out in my mind because Kojima is known for his hidden meaning behind what is being shown.
Understand this, I am not a 360 fanboy. Hell I loved playstation but the way they are going about things is wrong. I don't have an hd tv by the time i do have one holograms will be going into style. Therefore I do not need a blu-ray player. They still won't admit that they are floundering when everyone knows they are. I believe this game is going to the 360 because it is better for Konami to release it on more than one system. Fuck alliances and fuck fanboys.

Besides it is different when you get it directly from a programmer and not some news site. It is in the works put your ears to the pavement people that sound you hear is the coming of change ...or a really big bus either way you get a ear full.

Since Sons of Liberty this game seems to be all about cartwheels, confusing storylines, swords vs guns and hair.
