If you hadn't already guessed that Gears of War was making its way to PC, you probably missed out on this post completely. CliffyB got on stage at Microsoft's E3 2007 conference to show off (you guessed it) the PC version of GoW and his mad skills against something that never made it to the Xbox 360 edition -- a boss battle against the Locust Brumak.
If you're thinking to yourself, "I'll never cave in and buy Gears again just for a silly boss fight", get ready to surrender your wallet to Epic Games, because on top of that addition, the PC version will also feature 5 new campaign chapters, a new multiplayer mode, and even a map editor. Will this exclusive content ever make its way onto your Xbox 360? God, we hope so.
Gears of War will be available this holiday season for Windows XP and Vista, with the latter option utilizing Games for Windows Live and DirectX 10.
Get ready for some Microsoft carnie tickets...er.. I mean Microsoft points to get all of this but the map editor. Oh! And we should get this like a couple months after the PC version is out.
I wonder how many car stereos I have to steal to build a machine to run this.
Yeah, not needing windows vista to run the game is a smart move.
I was thinking on buying a 360, but i wont until i get clear information that microsoft is doing things right in their production line... so until then my money goes into a new video card.
Well, at least Xbox 360 owners get the actual game first. Still, Gears of War could have been more complete in the single-player area. The story did seem to have more than a few holes in the later half.
Glad to see this game coming to PC. Didn't care for it on the 360. Hopefully the game will play/port well. I've got a bad taste in my mouth from playing Lost Planet on the 360 first, hating it, then playing the PC port and hating it more.
Also, would like to see how well it performs on a modern multi-core gaming rig. Perhaps can put to rest the whole "360 pwns PC" argument once and for all. Could it be that the Brumak battle was left off of the 360 release because it couldn't handle it??
Bah, screw you all, sounds like no Linux/Mac port (or at least not right away). Come on Epic, you did that in the past with the UT games! Don't screw a possible market of THOUSANDS of users! Plus, if it was Linux/Mac, then it'd probably be the first commercial game on Vista that's also on other computer platforms.
I see that for the PC they really stepped up dialogue(sarcasm, it's worse than a Michael Bay movie). The graphics would be great but it's still too dark to really appreciate them. And finally the gameplay seems just as sluggish and unexciting as the 360 version.
So what's the multiplayer breakdown? Because you're suppose to be able to play with kids on XBOX Live right? :[ Do I have to install Xbox Dashboard onto my computer......I dun wanna.
