Out of all the new games Sony displayed at their conference during the 2007 E3 Media & Business Summit, Infamous stood out as the most interesting in my eyes. It's from the creators of the beloved Sly Cooper series, so you know what to expect from this game.
Infamous seems to be a sort of combination between Crackdown and Psi-Ops -- then again, the trailer is short and extremely compressed, so I might just be seeing things. But if that does happen to be the case, Infamous has the potential to be one hell of an awesome action game.
With games like Infamous and Metal Gear Solid 4 appearing exclusively on PlayStation 3 in 2008, it's going to become increasingly difficult to come up with reasons to not want the system.

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Meet the rest of the team
I'd have to say, since this was shown near the end of the conference, that out of the 3 companies. Sony seemed to show up with the best conference overall as far as my opinion goes *nod*.. Perhaps others feel the same?
Sony in my eyes had the most impressive show solely because they earned themselves a little redemption in a lot of gamers' eyes (mine included). Before now, not many people really knew what the hell Sony was doing, besides a lot of PR bullshit. But E3 displayed a bit more of what I was hoping to see from the Big S back in 2006.
Microsoft and Nintendo had swell shows, with both companies displaying a lot of exciting and attractive games... but Sony just had more to prove, and they pulled it off rather well.
SuMizzle, you forget Wii Fit, the Wii Zapper, the playble builds of Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 that reportedly play like no games ever have before, etc etc.
You may not like all that Wii shit, but you must admit it's not the same old same old.
If the IP looks like just another sandbox game where you have super powers and run around a black and brown neon lit city, then yes it's same old smae old, at least to me.
Most of these PS3 and 360 games are basicly interchangable with no identity or distinguishing characteristics. It reminds me of the "mascot gaming glut" of the early 90's. Mario, Sonic, Busby, Rayman, Gex, Zero the Acro-Bat, Sparkster, etc etc 9I can't believe I named all thoe off the top of my head).
That's how I feel about Killzone, Infamous, Assasin's Creed, Fallout, Army of Two, Kane and Lynch, the Club, and even Halo 3. It's a Brown/Black Sandbox/FPS glut.
And I didn't play Mario Galaxy or MP:3, but the guys on this site say they play like nothing else has, and I believe them.
I wish all Mario and Metroid games were the same as you say. Maybe then Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime Hunters would not have been so smelly compared to the games that preceeded them. But in truth, even though all Mario games have Mario in them, they are all vastly different from each other. and MP:3 hinges on the controls, as they may re-invent the way FPS's are played.
Then what is innovation? I mean is easy to say but to actually make a new idea work... is not that easy. I mean I rather be this super powered guy jumping from building to building and have fun doing it than just having a console and say: "Blah, seen that done that".
Even the Will looks innovative but to me it has a lot to prove beyond the cute look.
Now kiss each other on the cheek, buy a PS3 with RFoM, and wait 1 1/2 years to play this and really say if its innovative or not. Ill buy the PS3 by that time so we can have some super powered-building jumping, sandbox fun! <3
@0bshaky: Innovation means to do something different. Whether it's better or not is irrelevant. I'm so damn sick of the word "innovation" being used as a marketing point, because it really is a completely empty philosophy.
I don't care if it's innovative or not. I just want it to be good.
Kinda funny how many of the people shouting for innovation are all hyped up about all the 10-year-old downloadable re-releases.
*SuMizzle: "Ultimately, it's another platformer where you run and jump on things. Or gain abilities. Or collect things. Simply changing the physical manner in which you control a game isn't enough."
Pretty much. A new Mario Kart has been officially revealed, and just look at all the Nintendo people drool in delight. Yeah, like we haven't had 10 Mario Kart games, almost all of which are the same. Oh, but each one of them is GOOD. Yeah, which is why people buy each and every one.
Not innovative enough? Well, how about DK Bongo Blast? It's... a karting game... but this time the karts can jump, and it has Donkey Kong in it. Apparently, the Wii needs more than one karting game, and they both have to be 1st party. If that still doesn't tickle your fancy, there's also Diddy Kong Racing, and about a million other cheapo knockoffs -- all of which are 1st party. Nintendo is all about innovation, all right.
People just have to take a good hard look at the industry and realize that everything is a rehash of something else with different presentation. I might frequently bash Nintendo since they get nothing but admiration for their rehashes, but I'm not a fanboy of any system. There's just not much originality anywhere, because it all still sells.
Anyway, I'd be humiliated to release a trailer this bad. Oh, Sucker Punch, shame on you. You can do so much better. If the gameplay is quite good, then you better show us soon.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
:O
But I'm trading out my PSP for credit towards a new one for sure. That AV output is gold.
Other than that, the whole Sony show was blah. This game included.

Nothing same old same old about that.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
