Home #Europe

It's a testament to the grandeur of E3 when a sequel to one of the DS's most popular games goes unnoticed. I mean, just look at the right sidebar! Nobody's surprised that a little bit of news tucked into a Nintendo European release schedule slips between the cracks.

Fortunately, our very own Gemsi brings us news that Advance Wars Dual Strike 2 will drop later this year. It's slated for a Q4 release in Europe, so that may mean that Japan and the U.S. may see it even sooner. Unfortunately, that's literally all I know: there's no new information to speak of, and not even a measley screenshot.

So, assuming that this faux-announcement holds up, what do you guys want to see from Advance Wars DS 2? Online versus mode? New gameplay features? Are any of you even excited by this news? Is there anything else on that list that gets you riled up? Let us know in the comments!

[Thanks BlindsideDork!]

I am excited by this news. I loves me some Advance Wars and AW:DS is still my most played DS game yet. Online would be sweet and the game could do with taking better advantage of the DS's features. The dual screen parts of the first game were gimicky and tacked on. They could improve touchscreen control too, i find AW:DS easier to play with the buttons than stylus.

I agree with Resarf in that the dual screen parts of AW:DS were pretty crap. If they improved on the dual-screen usage and added better control with the stylus I'd be pretty happy. Of course, Wi-Fi is almost a must at this point isn't it?

That is too good to be true, surely?
I can think of a couple of people that will be way too excited bout that.
I think AW is one of those games that you're either addicted to, or dont care for at all. Lets hope it at least gets some decent marketing, and of course online play.

One thing I don't want to see is any more of is that art style. If they want to go gritty they have to do better then that. The original character design is one of the reasons why I love the Advance wars games.

I would like to see efforts go into making the games faster. Unless you play 1vs1 pre deployed one game could easily last several hours. Screw the two million different COs and the ranking system too.

Yay!

I'm in favor of faster gameplay. I can't tell you how many endless matches have been spent finishing the last HOUR of a match attached to the AC adapter.

Fuck yeah, Sequel. I'm still trying to get those damned black boat specs in hard mode.

As regards that picture, the plane looks goddamn awesome, but Eagle's face screams "do not want!"

I love Advanced Wars: DS, the only thing I would like to see (besides obvious gameplay enhancements) would be an upgraded art style. I was slightly disappointed that they hardly changed anything when switching over to the DS.

The most frustrating thing I could say about Advance Wars : Dual Strike was that it was impossible to find. Having waited to get on the DS bandwagon until the DS Lite came out, it was impossible to track that game down. Couldn't find it new ANYWHERE, and look on Gamestop's site, you won't find it new or used.

Sheer luck got me to victory. I found it used at a Gamestop, shoved into a corner behind all the other used games, in a nondescript blue case that just said AW:DS on it when I went to buy FF3 when it came out.

Very happy this is coming out, hope it gets a nice graphics bump and a good _varied_ campaign. It sucks that every game after the first has you fighting the same enemy CO's over and over for most of the game.

Also I can't imagine online play, unless it's stripped down or has some method to speed up the gameplay. Local play on the old ones could take hours easily.

Hell. Yes. This is by far, the best news I've heard at this year's E3.

I'm on hour 415 of AW:DS and I've still yet to unlock all the medals. What I'd want out of a sequel aside from more of the same is a Design Your Own CO approach. AW:DS's skill system is great for customizing the many many many existing COs (and I don't mind if they keep on adding 5-8 per game, bring 'em on, we need more synergy bonuses), but I want to dress up and design my own COs with wacky abilities from the ground up even if I only get to use them in the war room, versus and survival modes.
