Home #video

This year's E3 was full of amazing things, and while Nintendo clearly came in second to Konami when it came to press conferences they did have many epic moments. No moment was more epic than Reggie Fils-Aime getting lit on fire by Bowser. This happened in the greatest Nintendo commercial ever: the commercial for the 3DS.

Nintendo has had a long history of epic commercials that have been appreciated by fans for various reasons. However, nothing will ever top this. Not only is it for a handheld that everyone wants to get their hands on, but it is absolutely hilarious and adorable. Iwata, Miyamoto and Reggie all acting like little kids in front of a green screen? Priceless beyond belief.

I like this commercial just because it symbolizes America's cockiness over Japanese culture. Reggie seemed like he was genuinely enjoying Iwata and Miyamoto about to face their doom by their own creation. Not to mention he did nothing to help and was completely unrepentant until he was fried himself.

Perhaps..Perhaps the fact that Reggie was cooked was an allusion, nay, a recognition of the fact that he is known to share similar characteristics with ground beef?

Yeah, the original Smash Bros. commercial is still my favorite, but this one is pretty damn high on the list. For some reason Reggie's performance in this video gives me a genius idea. What if Will Ferrell starred in a bio-pic about Reggie Fils-Aime? Instant classic, or should I just lay off the acid?

@Magesx

After seeing the horror that is Marcus the PSP kid, everything is the greatest commercial ever by default.

But really, I found it amusing. Not as epic as say, that fanmade Mario ad featuring Sigur Ros, but it made me chuckle a bit if just because it reminds me what Nintendo's all about. Fun. No political bullshit or "deep" messages in their games.

My fave will always be this one--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mVmFq4sc4k , I mean, a (looks like) late-teen-to-twenty-something year old Paul Rudd repeatedly blowing his load to some SNES? Classic.

Did people really try to seek out dark undertones with this commercial? What the hell, haha.

Nice to see Nintendo can create interesting commercials, anything that's not "famous celebrity plays handheld, says stuff, NINTENDO LOGO" is alright with me.

Reminds me of Nintendo's older ads, where they were never too serious. I imagine next E3 we'll see Microsoft and Sony do this with their executives too. Nintendo really shat on the competition this year, how is it they've always managed to read the market like a book?
