We haven't heard much at all about MINDJACK until this year's E3, but now we have a launch trailer (above) and on floor gameplay (below). As you can see the main catch of the game is the ability to take over the bodies of NPC in the game and then play as them. This isn't really a new concept as it was done in games like Geist and Messiah, but it's still a cool mechanic none the less.

The multiplayer, which was playable on the show floor, is what might set it apart even further, offering co-op gameplay and a unique take on multiplayer. See, other players can jump into your single player campaign (mindjacking, I suppose) at any time and play against you in your campaign. It's a very interesting concept that could easily fall flat on its face. There's also a standard multiplayer mode, but it seems that it is based on scoring points by jacking into the most bodies and not solely on killing others.

I'm also hoping that the ridiculous cheesiness in the trailer above is there because the game is intentionally cheesy, but I doubt it since it's a Square Enix game. Hopefully, the quirks are good ones and not bad.

The game will be landing on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Kinda like Demon's Souls?

I loved messiah, and wish I could load it up and finish it now that I'm not a horrible gamer.

Oh, Square Enix. Are you even capable of doing something serious without cheesy, awkward, overwrought gravitas? It really is like watching a mediocre anime, I mean, the "forbidden technology"?.

Generic & Bad Voice Acting: CHECK
Bad character animations: CHECK
Terrible planning by having 21 years from now every building on earth looks totally different: CHECK

No way will I even consider playing this.

The hilariously cheesy stuff just reminds me of an intro to a PS1-era game, or something like Time Crisis.

And I can guarantee this is Squeenix's idea of appealing to a western audience.

If I remember what the patent said about this game, its more than just possessing an NPC to attack someone esle, but that you also gained stats through mindjacking that went back and enhance the actual player character.

The catch is while you mindjack the player character would be vulnerable. So it not just about taking someone over and gunning at the other guy.

It's a neat concept, but I'm not sure it'll work. And the cheese factor is over the top here...

Well, the trailer voice over guy was cheesy, but the game itself might not be. I mean, it might be Squenix appealing to western audiences by being badass, instead of the game developers making it that way.

It could be okay. Definite "will read reviews" territory, though. But I'll keep something of an eye on it.

Jeebus, I've never seen a worse trailer. Everything about this game looks so third-rate it's appalling.

Robbo and JesusNinja: I couldn't have said it more eloquently.

Oh that was beautiful. I haven't seen a trailer as funny as that since Deadly Premonition.
Did anyone else see the cyborg gorilla?

Haha, the narration sounds like it came from the late 90's or something.

Will they give me money if I go to my local game store and ask for this? If not then no thanks.

It could be cool. The idea of turning randoms off the street into disposable heroes for your character's cause has potential, and Demon's Souls campaign invasion was all sorts of fun.

So the multiplayer is a take on what was done in Demons Souls.
