Seriously, watch this. Look how good it looks. Look at how much is going on. So help me Bungie, don't disappoint me again like you did with Halo 3.

This video also confirms that space fighting is indeed a thing. You'll be able to control a space ship and pew pew pew at things in space for the first time ever in a Halo game. That's pretty exciting.

A video isn't showing up for me, but i saw some footage of space fighting eariler today. I wonder how Bungie is going to explain, as the Covenant always had a superior space fleet, space battles between UNSC and Covenant were typically one sided.

But all things considered, this should be a very kickass game.

Seeing the footage of the space battles brought me back to the space battles in Star Wars Battlefront 2.

@GDubs: One-sided battles just mean that we need a hero who can personally kick enough ass to make up the difference. Isn't that what Halo is all about?

@pneuma: true, but thats where the Spartans always came into play on the ground, in one of the books it was mentioned that every minor win on land always resulted in a major loss in space. Damn near every human world that the covenant fleet found (save for Earth) was decimated. The first halo book i ever read the Spartans kicked serious ass on land only to be extracted in space to watch the planet get glassed.

But enough nerd talk. Still looking foreward to this game, will be taking off work and not hanging out with GF on September 14th.

It's really sad that I'm gonna be spending 60$ just for the space battles. I guess Forge and multiplayer will make me feel better about my purchase...

I can't say I needed a lot of convincing to be psyched for this game, but this stuff is absolutely gorgeous. From head to heels, it looks like a game I'll be playing over and over again.

That aside, I'm also pretty happy to see so much of the dtoid community being excited as well. Maybe the Halo Hate Train is finally leaving for more gruntish, angry places. Or maybe everyone's too busy hating Kinect.

Either way, WOO REACH.

Halo Reach looks like the best Halo yet but every other recently announced shooter just looks better. Halo 3 was such a meh experience. Not bad but not great either. The series just feels so generic to me. I don't think it's been relevant since part 2 back when coop and online were a big deal. I guess bunnyhopping with a shotgun never gets old.

I'm with Lugtor. Lame, sterile.
I wanted to want this Halo, but the trailer makes me kind of shrug my shoulders and think "Uh huh. Looks like Halo. Like every Halo since the first except with sharper textures. More of the same, except with some stealth kills and space battles."
Am I alone in seeing flying spacecraft multiplayer levels making me want the game LESS than if they weren't in it?
Whatever. If I could only get one, I'm going Call Of Duty Black Ops over Reach over what's shown so far of either. Halo is looking really old, Bungie is smart to miove on after this.

If anyone in here played the beta, then I'm sure you could agree with me as I tell most of the people that are voicing a dismissal that it felt a lot better than any other Halo. It brought back the excitement that the original had. The armor load-outs were great. The fact you can make your Spartan look unique. Elites are balanced differently in multi-player. The modes were extremely fun. It didn't feel like a cop-out like the previous two games felt, and it also didn't reinvent the wheel like the second one attempted to do with dual-wielding and such. More or less, it actually felt like a new game. I'd suggest that anyone who at least liked Halo at one point to try it out when it comes out. Anyone who cannot stand Halo at all, maybe try it out, but there is still a layer there that still allows it to be familiar to a Halo player, so it could still clash with your play-style if you are more of a CoD type of player.

The fact that one load-out (Scout) had the dash ability really helped ween me back into Halo-style, since I'd played so much Modern Warfare up until then.

The only thing this trailer really does to me is reinforce the feeling that Bungie is going batshit insance.
The amount of stuff just randomly thrown into the game (or so it seems) is just overwhelming. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be bad, but it sure is going to be unbalanced and incoherent as hell.

I mean, just look at the friggin space battles. They look just randomly thrown in for the sake of it.

@Inigit4l You are not alone.

So basically they took halo 3, added some space fighting from Star Wars: Battlefront 2(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rJ_JLb2cHE), and called it a new game. Das kewl.

So basically Halo haters are drawn to Halo threads, too stupid to tell the obvious visual differences difference between Halo:Reach and Halo:3, and honestly think that battlefront 2 invented space fighter combat in a shooter? LOL.

The problem with space battles is that I can tell just looking at the video that the ships do not control as fluidly as Warhawks. Freakin' game ruined air battles for me. Still a day one purchase though.

Why was Halo 3 disappointing? It had the best level design, graphics, and combat in the series until ODST came out. The only disappointment I had was Halo 2.

I assume we're talking campaign here, since that footage was all from Reach's campaign.

You know, considering how videogames used to embrace the "fly a ship around space and shoot stuff" philosophy so warmly, it's strange to see how few games are using that premise today. You know, when did we stop flying around space and shooting at things? Like... Starfox? And that's all I've got. Today when you hear "Space Shooter", it's an FPS, with a scifi setting. I'm glad Halo's going back to this way of thinking.

Dtoid is the only community where people will actually complain about shit being ADDED to the game. Especially a game where people claim it's been the same since Halo: CE, you'd imagine more things to do would mean people would give it a chance. Whatever, haters gonna hate, and I'll just play my Halo: Reach when it comes out.
