GameTrailers TV has the debut trailer for Valhalla Game Studios' first creation, Devil's Third. While the genre might not be what you'd expect from Tomonobu Itagaki, even without context this wonderfully crafted video portrays its ultraviolence in such a way that it just looks like a game he'd be responsible for.

Devil's Third may seem a little rough around the edges, but that's to be expected at this stage. The core concept is there, though, and it seems like a solid one. Plus, you can't really go wrong with exploding limbs, now can you?

Based on how the perspectives shift throughout the trailer, it seems like multiplayer will be a thing. If so, I'm interested to see how exactly that works -- and in general, how Valhalla makes melee weapons meaningful when you've got massive guns at your fingertips.

Not gonna lie, I was a bit surprised that it was part shooter. Looks pretty cool though. Need to see more!

Looks incredibly awesome. Totally looking forward to this.
I don't think it'll be released in 2010 though, unfortunately.

The "legendary" Tomonobu Itagaki? Really? I don't think so.

Looks pretty damn awesome, but like it's no where near complete, needs lots of polishing.

@Trevor - The man made Ninja Gaiden. He can call himself legendary if he likes, all it takes is one incredible game and the title's yours!

The guy gets too much praise. Ninja Gaiden is a good game, but there are thousands of good games out there, so it's nothing special. And DOA series is a shit button masher, so yeah.

Wet mixed with Lost Planet mixed with Gunz: the Duel.

Normally, that combination would have me screaming.

If it didn't look like the gameplay was going to be absurdly clunky, it would be cool. The obsession with animating everything too fluidly is absurdly annoying these days. I don't fucking care about transition animations, just let me move freely.

I think the guys a hack, personally. I didn't even like his take on Ninja Gaiden, which was just hard for hard's sake rather than challenging by good design.

I liked the NES Ninja Gaidens and the arcade NG better, which he had nothing to do with. The DOA fighters were always a poor-man's Virtua Fighter. And personally, I never liked that they associated the two franchises.

I think Team Ninja will be better off without the guy. Metroid Other M is their first chance to prove it.

At one time, DoA was as good a fighting game as any. DOA2: Hardcore, along with Soul Calibur II, is one of my all-time favorites. Just because later versions haven't measured up doesn't mean the entire series should be denigrated.

This game looks fun. It's impossible to tell one way or another, but it's definitely on my radar.

I don't know if it is because I'm tired or if this game looks very unpleasant...
Well, the game doesn't look very satisfying and it needs to be set aside, in all honesty I think I want a new Ninja Gaiden.

@Los255 - Yeah, getting it right on the second retail release of the same game really bolsters my faith in a product.

Except, there was Ninja Gaiden Sigma, too. So much for getting it right the second time.

I'm right there with your thinking, which is why I find his "legendary" status, which he obviously gave himself, is bullshit.

People like Kojima, Miyamoto, Mikami, etc. They're legendary. Itagaki has always seemed like a bit of a schmuck to me.

It doesn't look very promising judging by this trailer, in fact, the only appealing about this game seems to be the huge amount of gore.
Anyways, I actually respect Itagaki a lot, especially considering the work he did on NG, but the only thing "Legendary" about him is his irreverence.

I don't know why everyone is talking about Killzone 3 and not this game instead. KZ3 looks like the same shit, but with snow. Poor Devil's Third.... being overshadowed by KZ3. Shouldn't of revealed on GTTV.

I like this only because of the Clockwork Orange-esque use of classical music for Ultra-violence.

This trailer doesn't change either of my stated opinions, nor does it make me interested in buying the game.
