I wasn't actually able to catch the Sony press conference, so correct me if I'm wrong.
But nowhere in this trailer is the name "Cole" mentioned. How do we know that this isn't a completely different hero in the same universe?

GameInformer also mentioned it when they talked with SuckerPunch directly. They talk specifically about changes in Cole's design and how this affected the game, I believe the art director comments on it. Also every quote has been it's Cole as well, so pretty sure it's the same (Zeke also looks completely different, too). I can see how him growing back hair (which is natural to lose after an explosion), and the different voice actor can elude that it's someone else though.

When I saw it during Sony's presentation, I could have swore Nathan Drake found a new job.

The new voice actor really works, not too un-Cole to turn me off. Not too un-Cole at all actually. :)
I think i'm the only one who might find the ice powers stupid. Not cause it wouldn't be cool as fuck, but I don't see it any way how this fits into the story. Me thinks i'll have to wait for Jim Sterling's biased ps3 review of Infamous 2 to decide on whether or not they just pulled this out of their ass cause they couldn't think of any more electric powers.
Seems a lot more darker compared to the first, and I kind of like this slightly different turn that Sucker Punch is taking with this entry.
i heard about a time warp. so Im guessing this is YOUNG Cole and Young Zeke. I still dont like his persona though.
I really wish they had continued with the original storyline, character and voice actors. If they don't, what the hell was the point of the first game? The first game ended well, ended very well in fact. It was great.
But for some reason they decided to "re-boot" the entire thing. Honestly, I think it's a pretty terrible decision they have made. I'll get it, but I won't buy it immediately.

The first Infamous received its "bias" score from several Destructoid staffers back when they used to do multiple viewpoint reviews. So you can blame all of them :)

Actually, they didn't reboot anything. It's still Cole after the events of the first game... They're in a new city because Cole is searching for something. There's a whole article about how it's continuing from where they ended the first one in Game Informer.

Have to say I was a little bummed to hear about the voice/image change of cole but honestly I like it now. Also "some shit never change...ok maybe some things" is a terrible line. You already alluded that SOME things change by saying SOME things don't. I digress, can't wait to bash ppl with a giant tuning fork.
I love the first words from Cole 2.0 are "no matter what choices I've made," cleverly frees them from being consistent with either ending from the first game. Oh well.

The trouble is, in the first game's 'evil' ending, Cole used the orb thing a second time and got badass red-and-black lightning. I wonder how they're going to explain its presence or absence without revealing which of the two endings is canonical.

He looks a bit like Nathan Drake to me. The game seems more interesting than the first one though and I'm preferring the new art direction in comparison to the old one already. It's certainly a lot less grim.
if anything i believe its still cole but older, but i still wish that they got a new char. and put them together in a 3rd game for co op

@mrandydixon: I was kidding, I actually felt the reviews were spot on :). I was just poking fun at all the ps3 people who always yell bias.
Are you guys doubting sucker punch? When have they ever released a bad game? Jeez I think they know what they are doing with all this new direction, who gives a fuck about what he looks or sounds like now, the game play is going to be addictive.

I think some of these people are worried way too much about his looks. You're not dating him, you're playing him in a game. He was a dumbass in the last game, now hes just a dumbass with hair. But the GAME ITSELF kicked total ass, did it not? So I'm sure this one will too.
