In case you hadn't heard, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is introducing multiplayer into Ubisoft's open-world assassination franchise. Chad had a chance to check it out at E3, and while he came away with lukewarm impressions (he liked the single-player portion of the game much more), his play-through didn't come in the best circumstances. So maybe he'll like it better if he watches this video above, which explains how the multiplayer component works.

As you can see, you pick a character and then are assigned a player to assassinate; you will be a target for other players as well. If you assassinate someone in an ostentatious way, you'll get noticed -- but you have a chance to elude your assassin. What do you guys think?

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is set for release on November 16th for PS3, 360, and PC.

If it's a brotherhood, why are they killing eachother?

I'm really surprised how much I'm liking this. Definitely a style of multiplayer mayhem that is not what I'm used to.

@ LaMorteSicca
They've been working on it for three years O_o

@ Caspulex
It's supposed to be a "training simulation". A good way to justify it ha!

I really, really liked it.

@Cap
The Brotherhood is for the single player mode. Multiplayer is training - think the Danger Room.

The ending of this game killed the series for me- enough of the vague sci fi nonsense about god and stuff. It would have been far better if it left the sci fi out and kept it as a historical version of hitman- in different time periods you take out different scum bags.

so no more AC for me, thanks.

This reminds me of spies vs. mercs from Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. That game was all about having navigation down to a science. Learning the maps proved quite beneficial. I foresee multiplayer in AC:Brotherhood to be similar. If you know the lay of the land, you can be the best assassin out there, either killing without ever being noticed OR having the skill to always escape, because you know the city (map) like the back of your hand

The video is definitely flattering, but I'm more inclined to base my expectations off of someone's hand's on experience with the game. Until I hear people who've played it hyping it up, I'll continue to remain a little skeptical.

I like the idea, kind of like the Ship.

Bitch needs to stop talking like a fucking idiot though.

Looks neat, but I wonder if it would just turn into a race to kill whoever, and then a race to kill the killer. If that's the case, it sounds like Assassin's Creed take on the oddball gametype with a new twist.

There's plenty of multiplayer game modes that were super different and fun sounding on paper, but ended up being almost meaningless in practice. Like Kane and Lynch's bank robbery thing; when I tried it people didn't bother saving cash, they just murdered each other like it was a deathmatch.

Target target target, target target. Target target! Target, target target.
Target? Target.

I agree with Talleh, the potential of this multiplayer will depend solely on how the online community takes it. Sure, it could become an insanely satisfying game of cat and mouse with a high emphasis on tracking and sneaking, or it could simply degenerate into a repetitive rushed hunt.

Besides, using this video as an example, why didn't the executioner just run around the whole map? The player already knew what he looked like, he might as well have just tried outrunning them.

It looks awesome. Would be ecstatic if it has a split screen option as well, but probably too much to hope for :\

I do like the idea of multiplayer assassination, but I'm wary on the execution here. The old Splinter Cell games or, more recently, The Ship did it well enough, but I'm curious to see how this pans out.

I've always been a fan of AC because of the freedoms given to the player to interact with the surroundings. Multiplayer is an excellent addition! I'd love to see a split screen mode for this as well.

I can't say I like how the character was able to just completely morph into the opposite sex at whim, though. That completely ruins the point of

...ruins the point of blending in with the crowd if you're just going to magically transform into something else. I hope that ability can be disabled.

This is obviously the multiplayer mode that was meant for the original build of Splinter Cell Conviction that got scrapped with the new build. Maxime Beland mentioned a mode where players tried to kill each other without knowing who was a player and who was an NPC and said the concept was shelved for using in a future project because it didn't work with the new build of Conviction. When I read that interview it sounded much like something that could be used for Assassin's Creed and it seems like they've done exactly that. I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds cool, but Im not sure if I would want to get this on PC or 360... PC is more reliable and I prefer it but on the 360 I could possibly play with my friends. If my 360 doesnt die again.
