I'll just come out and say it; I think that the Wii won this year's E3, with emphasis on the word "this".

While the other guys unquestionably showed more exciting stuff in terms of tech and games to be released sometime next year, the Wii had a dominating amount of exclusive games coming out this year, and amongst those games, there was an absolutely stunning amount of quality and variety. From the beautifully hand drawn Muramasa: The Demon Blade and A Boy and His Blob to weird-ass new I.P. like Little King's Story, Span Smasher and Line Attack Heroes to cult favorite sequels like Sin and Punishment 2 and Endless Ocean 2 to indie darlings like Bit.Trip Core and Cave Story to FPSs like The Conduit and Red Steel 2 to the balls-out 2D fighting action of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom to the true survival horror of Ju-onSilent Hill: Shattered Memories and Cursed Mountain to wacky spin-offs like Dead Space: Extraction, Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles to the sure-fire mainstream hits like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Sports Resort, ther's something for absolutely everyone on the Wii this year.

Like an idiot, I tried to cover each and every Wii game on the show floor, and pretty much lost my mind in the process. Hit the jump for video documentation of this once in a lifetime occurrence, as well as hands-on impressions of most Wii games I played at E3 09.

The Wii will always win for you, Holmes.

Seriously though, the Wii is getting a lot of amazing titles this year. A Boy and his Blob, Muramasa The Demon Blade, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Sin & Punishment 2, Cave Story Wii, these, much more and even those that were announced before (Little King's Story) and are already in shelves (Punch-Out!!) are/will be absolutely great

Awesome vid! I'm guessing you're partial to the God Hand soundtrack? ;-D

Also, when Phil Collins goes like "bu dum dum dum dum" I go apeshit everytime, so I know that exact feeling!

That said, since you were spending so much time covering the Wii side, did you notice the Sony side, 10 feet away? I felt like it blew Nintendo out of the water.

Excellent video as usual Holmes/whoever shot and edited that. Plenty of cool games there actually but am I the only one who completely doesn't care about New Super Mario Wii or SMG2?

.......why do I hate fun?

I'm sure he hoofed it over to the Sony side for a bit. Like him, I mostly provided coverage for Sony/Microsoft, and made it over to Nintendo after-the-fact.

Believe me, I'm aware that there's a lot of stuff to cover, and it's virtually impossible to do it all (we only brought 5 people to E3), I'm just asking if he was able to get a chance to play other offerings while making the statement "I think that the Wii won this year's E3".

Wii has gotten a lot more shooters than I thought, but Sin and Punishment 2 easily stole my attention from the bunch. Hearing Mr. Holmes say how much it's like Star Fox makes me see it more of a want now.

I'm definitely stoked for this upcoming year. There are so many great titles. I'm probably most excited about The Conduit, Fragile, Deadspace E and Darkside Chronicles.

How bout you lot, what are your most anticipated titles?

Actually, I kind of have to agree with Holmes about Nintendo winning this year's show.

Nothing coming out this year can match the one-two punch of the two Mario games for the Wii, at least IMO.

I want them now.

Nice wrap up; y'all are really starting to get good with these videos- the editing, sound, and overall quality is just as good as you'd find on any major television show, but it still retains that Dtoid charm.

Also, Muramasa, Sin & Punishment deux, and Tatsunoko v Capcom would have to be my most anticipated titles. (And of course Galaxy 2 but that won't be coming for a while)

@ Everyone- Really, I can't believe how nice you all are. Sincerely, every time I open up the comments of one of these posts, I expect to read a bunch of "That was worse than Chevy Chase in Caddyshack 2" comments. I'm constantly afraid that Andy and I have jumped the shark. From these comments, I'll assume that we haven't jumped it quite yet.

@ Magnalon- You were at the show? Crap! It would have been so cool to meet you!

As for the soundtrack, that's from a 60's action/puppet TV show called Joe 90. Me and Andy love those old theme songs, and I love the fact that the God Hand music because of it.

As for Sony's showing, they had some great games, but they didn't have the exclusives or the variety that Nintendo had, at least from what I saw. The PS3/360 has a lot of great 3rd person shooters, great 3rd person beat 'em ups, and... um... Final Fantasy XIII on the horizon, and not too much else.

KoF XII was probably the big exception to that rule, and as such, it really stood out for me. It's definitively the PS3/360 game of this year that I'm most looking forward to.

@ Furious George- I didn't see Monado playable at the show. There was just a brief clip of it on the promo video that was running non stop at the Nintendo desk.

Looked hot though!

I saw you at the Karaoke bar, briefly! I didn't feel like it would have been my place to interrupt your conversation, so I was hoping I'd see you on the floor :-(

Also, I never saw you at the media center. Anthony, Ashley, Jim, and Chad, I saw every other hour.

I'm already looking forward to next year, and the opportunity to meet you, proper. Oh, and play some Wii games :-D

Got damn, your E3 videos are hilarious!
You're a funny dude, but don't go over the edge. The editing is nice, but not crazy or chaotic. And the background music is perfect, has this cool 70's vibe about it!
Please make more.
DTOID and its members would be privileged, Holmes!
Thank you. =)

Man, I just now realized how many cool games I missed at the show. Three days was not nearly enough. Not at all.
Wii did rock this year! So excited!

Nintendo should put you in charge of E3 next year, half of these games didn't even get any airtime at the big conference.

Like your style sir! Nice vids, always humorous, nicely edited....

As with the Nintendo thing, I hear you. Like, for me personally, I don't have a Wii.....but now? With Muramasa, NSMBWii, and SMG2 I NEED ONE. Soon. And will get one. Maybe finally the tide is turning for hardcore Ninty fans.
