I knew Sony bigwig Kaz Hirai had something up his sleeve when he showed up on stage at the Sony press conference this morning. But it was in his pocket. And out of this mismatched jacket of his came a PSP Go, in either a silver or white. I don't care what color it was, though. I need it.

You'll see that in the video above, as well as hear all the details on Sony's newest console, set to drop on October 1st. It was that 3D render spinning around that sold me. This system is so much more sexy than the leaked photos were.

Above, you'll also see and hear details on the services and software supporting the PSP Go.

After seeing this, I was almost totally sold on the PSP Go. I did a 178, and not a 180. That was until later today, when I got some hands-on time with the system. Now I'm a full convert. More on that soon.

Also, this is gonna be awesome. I'm so sick of those crappy UMDs and their fragile cases.

A friend of mine at E3 got a chance to play GT on the GO and I asked him if it was comfortable to play on(I was worried that it wasn't going to be) and he said it feels "pretty natural". So by what he said my biggest fear for the Go is demolished, and I am looking forward to its release.

Couldn't agree more. Altough white model looks much better then black one.

It still looks butt fugly to me.

Getting a 3000...if i manage to scrape up enough for a PSP. Can't deal with all this digital downloads when I don't have digital money.

They need to make a console that accepts paper money for digital purchases.

I honestly don't know why people thought it was ugly to begin with. I always thought it was a pretty damn sleek looking device, though I don't care for the silver circles around the controls. I mean, how can I play with this thing without thinking about nipples now?

Quite frankly, the things you said in the PSP No! video pissed me off a little bit as well, so I'm glad you're coming around.

@dale

Okay.

I'm halting all observations of E3 news until I get an answer to this.

What the fuck is "Hoof" supposed to mean? I mean seriously. I grew up reading logical english, I read some of the chan shit, but I came to the press things expecting to read announcements via Dtoid, and instead I read each press release trying to interpret what the fuck "hoof" is supposed to mean in context of what you're trying to tell me.

I appreciate a good giggle or two when relaying me news, but I also like to KNOW what's being said. I could've just gone straight to Famitsu's website and come away with equal understanding of what was said at that point.

Looks slick as hell and I'm praying for a white one come October 1st. It was the massive amount of upcoming PSP software that sold me on it.

16 gig internal flash
+
16 gig card
=
32 gigs of pure rediculous. Can't wait!

I want to be excited about the PSP Go but it's hard to when the unit has fewer expensive parts in it yet costs more. The battery life may be better but will it play imports? And what about the UMD games I already own?

I was good to go on it till they said 249. =\ I would've thought 200 would be the price. Now, I'll have to wait it out and see the reactions/reviews once it's out.

I like the memory stick thing, I havent used a UMD in ages...

Of course, thats because my memory stick is full of NOT emulation related things... so since the Go! will surely have the latest and greatest Sony Anti-homebrew/fun System this is unfortunately a no-go for me. But back on point, even the few PSP games I own have been downloaded. Heck, they load faster.

I agree with most people that 249 seems a bit pricey...unless there's something else coming with it, I'll stick with my original PSP and PSN for now.

One thing I have to wonder: How good will the external sound quality be with that teeny little speaker in the top left?

Unless it prints money, it's not worth $249.

Pass. Because you know that digitally-distributed stuff will be so full of tracking software so Sony will know your IP and probably have back-door access to the PSP go like Apple's kill switch with the iPhone.

And honestly, wooting at a presser? I may be a fickle old man now, but I've been to three E3's worth of pressers, and this year's attitudes from the "press" have been utterly depressing.

God, I'm a bastard. Sorry, it's been a busy, bad week.

I'm still not even remotely interested in this. No hard copies of games = no purchase. And as far as Bluetooth goes, Ad Hoc Party will be fine for that on the current PSPs.

did you know if you buy a PSP 3000 and an additional 16gb Memory Pro Duo it would roughly equate to a PSP Go?

With that you can not only buy games online, but also play UMD games...oh and homebrew for that matter

If there would be a way to 'register' your current UMD games and get digital copies for free, then I'd actually get a Go. It looks sleek, pretty impressive, and looks a bit easier to use. But like I said, there needs to be a way to let Sony know which UMD games people already own.

If you already own UMDs then you already own a PSP and this isn't aimed at you. No game company would ever let people get bonus digital copies of their games because there would be no way of knowing if they still have the physical copy. This is why microsoft requires you to have the disc in the drive even after you've copied it onto the hard drive.

Hmmm, October hey? I only play one game on my PSP, although I play a good few hours a day. Thing is, my PSP's analgue nub is FUCKED - I'll let it off, it's a 1000 launch model! Has seriously had a good innings.

But i need the new edition of the one game I play, I need it on launch on the 26th june. But i want a PSPGo on the 1st October and don't want to have to buy the game twice!!

Hmmm, decisions decisions.

i think for now I'll sign up for continuous play, get my PSP replaced, then buy MHFU when it comes out and worry about the PSPGO later.

well up for a more comfortable PSP though.

I like gadgets. I can also afford them. Plus it looks like Sony is getting there act together, with DLC, though they have been very strong the past 6 months with the psn this will only make them that much more of a threat. Sign me up for one. Also its coming in white, so I'll have to get misus one. She likes Weeds and Dexter so thats good news coming from the downloadable video front. Can't wait for this bad boy!

My only issue is the limit on number of times one can download a product. On the PS3 it isn't an issue since I have a little more than 400 GB to fill with PSN games, which will take a while. But, are PSP games on the PSN affected by the same limit of 5 downloads and then you have to rebuy it? Long term, that wouldn't work for me at all.

I am almost sold. There's just one thing...

They mentioned nothing about back-compatability with games you already have. He went on about future games having like a code or something that you use to download the game onto your Go, but... What about the games I already have? Am I forced to keep my 2000? Do I have to rebuy them? What Sony, let me know here!
