E3 09: PSP Go confirmed, first official details photo

According to Kaz Hirai during the 2009 Sony E3 press conference, the company has two names for its next portable gaming system: "The worst-kept secret of E3, and the PSP Go."

The new system will be launching simultaneously in North America and Europe on October 1, and November 1 in Japan. The PSP Go will retail for $249.99, and is "50% smaller and 40% lighter than the PSP 1000." As for its feature set, it's got 16 GB of flash memory, built in wi-fi, bluetooth, and uses Memory Stick Micro.

It was specifically mentioned that Sony would "continue to support and market the PSP 3000 alongside the PSP Go," with all future titles being released as both digital downloads and UMDs. Lastly, a new PC service named Media Go was shown, with its purpose being that of faster and more intuitive content transfers.

You're kidding, right? I don't like it. 250 bucks for something that really doesn't do anything we haven't seen before, and it doesn't even do it better than the earlier PSPs. I like the pic "It's got like... MEMORY.. and uhh... some WIFI.. and totally like bluetooth... and OTHER STUFF YEAHHHHHHH!!11oneone!!!!"

Okay, so... It has no new features, it's been stripped of its UMD drive, and it costs $90 more than a PSP-3000. I think I'll pass.

Not only is it more expensive, it has no new features (minus the bluetooth, but honestly do you care?) and fugly looking compared to the PSP-3000.

This is going to be a failure.

Give me a solution for my existing UMD collection, and I'll buy it. If their answer is to just keep my old PSP, screw this thing and it's lack of dual analog and it's smaller screen.

Old I know, but I couldn't resist.

I'm still waiting on getting my hands on the damn thing before I pass judgment. I mean, it costs as much as a Wii does. That's a little excessive.

It's ugly as sin. The screen is actually SMALLER than previous PSPs. It's fucking expensive. The PSP is light already, do we need to make it even lighter? Who cares?! And the extra features are nothing to mention about. I'll stick with my old PSP.

Well I was considering getting my hands on one quickly, but I think I'm not going to pay $250 for it.

No second Analog stick
No touch screen
!!!
The fact that they will keep supporting the original PSP with UMD games will ensure that people with still be able to not-download hacked games, use it for emulation and other pirate stuff.
This is a big win for game stealers and a huge loss for Sony and whoever decides to make a game for this machine.

Kinda like the DSi which stopped pirates for about a week...

I wouldn't pay that much for it... but I'll buy one some day.

$250? They are joking right? This will probably flop worse than the original psp-1000.
