Nintendo really seems to be pulling out all the stops this E3, with a slew of first-party titles being announced. Now we can add Metroid to the growing list of games with a Wii game entitled, Metroid: Other M. Some of us had heard rumors about a new adventure for Samus being announced at the show but the one thing I think nobody expected to hear was that the cherished franchise was being placed in the hands of Team Ninja.

A full 3D adventure, Metroid: Other M promises to go deeper into the story of everybody's favorite power-armored bounty hunter. It looks absolutely stunning visually -- as one might expect with Team Ninja at the helm -- and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I don't traditionally go in for the 3D Metroid titles but I'm going to have to seriously reconsider my stance on that if this winds up being as hot as it looks.

Currently, the title is planned to have a 2010 release.

I just came. Hard.

This was so awesome, I can't even describe my reaction. As much as I loved hearing about the new Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, this announcement steals the cake.

I thought Golden Sun would be the only worthwhile thing to come out of this.

I'm buying a fucking Wii now.

So now that Adam Malkovich or however you spell his name is confirmed, it seems like we're gonna be looking a lot deeper into Metroid's lore. Fantastic.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.
This is the metroid game I've been waiting for. 2.5D? Check. Actually has a Plot? Check. That Adam Malchwhatever guy from M:Fusion? Check. Kickass graphics? Check.

Damn why do I love this series so much. Now I'll have to get a Wii. :(

"I was hoping it would be Metroid Dread. =("

I hear you

"Based on the 1up interview, all the important people left Team Ninja, so you could say a newbie dev team is going to produce the new Metroid or at least with no real background."

Is that so? Hmm. Some commenters have mentioned already that it still looks flashy and I agree wholeheartedly because the problem will be then that game will be totally ridiculous

Am i the only one who thinks this is gonna go down the drains, and in to hell, because it is so toxic.

I think this is shit! Metroid isn't about heavy story, or hand on hand combat.Granted, as an action game it looks fine, but as a Metroid game, it just doesn't cut it for me.

I will try it, but it ain't my jam damn it.

OMGWTFBBQ!!!! Finally, I have more reasons to play my Wii. Metroid will always be the best Series ever to me. To bad I have to wait till 2010. But, I guess Halo 3: ODST and Valkyria Chronicles on Hard Ex mode will hold me over till then.

I did a happy gasp when I heard Adam's "Any objections, Lady?" line as my brain remembered that from Metroid Fusion.

I did a really happy gasp when I saw Samus change into her power suit.

And I think I died of happiness briefly when they showed some of that gameplay footage. Seriously, that was ridiculously awesome. I really, really hope this turns out to be the perfect combo of old-school Metroid platforming and new-school Metroid shooting and story-telling that they're hinting at.

This looks super focused on story, which is a direction the Metroid Franchise only really dabbled hardcore with in Fusion. I'm super excited by this fact, and I'm hoping we get a HUGE chunk of Samus' past in this! I love the change in companies, really might breathe new life into the series, both visually and in gameplay!

I'm gonna call it right now, one of those chicks is Samus' daughter and Other M is just alluding to her being a Mother (see, Other M - Mother).

NONONONONO!! It's fucking Metroid in cyberspace, and I won't have it! Training the next generation which is likely a daughter to don the suit...in cyberspace simulations. Fuck I hope not..please be misrepresented.
