You have to laugh when you watch this video, because within the first minute you can hear R3y say aloud while he films, "This is such a Colette post." He's quite right, despite the fact I don't play a lot of racing games -- but the thing my eye picked up on immediately about ModNation Racers is the obvious influence from designer vinyl toys, which I happen to know a little something about.

As you can see in the video, the game allows you to choose from plenty of ready made characters or use its built in creation tools to make your own. So basically, it's like MarioKart meets Kid Robot with a dash of LittleBigPlanet thrown in for good measure. Fun? Sure looks like it. We'll let you know more as soon as we get hands on time with this one on the show floor.

You know, if this hits it big, I'd bet the figureprint.com guys would be all about building your custom characters into real figures...

I've been waiting to see what United Front was working on for a while now. Now that I have, I'm super excited, this game looks incredible, and the track editor looks so easy to use, yet gives you infinite possibilities.

I love it

Man, this game looks like the SHIT! Better have local multiplayer, I could see that being a blast. :)

@Tubatic: No way on God's green Earth that happens. That's a lawsuit from Kid Robot waiting to happen, because these already are inspired by their creations.

Kid Robot possibly making custom ModNation figures, though, could happen.

That looks AWESOME. My favorite part of the original Excitebike (and Mach Rider) was the track editor, and this one seems robust, yet simple. I'm especially impressed at how quickly a custom track can be made.
