E3 09: Kratos is playable in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny photo

The Soulcalibur series has seen its fair share of "guest characters," but for whatever reason, Mr. God of War himself has never made an appearance. Funny, considering how fans have been dying to see Kratos in the series, and how he actually makes some sense as a character in the SC universe.

"God of War embodies the characteristics of a classic Soulcalibur guest character with a powerful persona, a rich back story and a mighty blade with which to fight," says Makoto Iwai, the executive VP and COO of Namco Bandai.

"In creating the Soulcalibur PSP system exclusive title, we knew Kratos was the only choice to appear as our special guest character," he finishes. Now that you finally got your wish, what character do you want to see next? Optimus Prime? Freddy Krueger? Cyrax? You tell us!

Maybe Dante from the DMC series. Or Alighieri, depending how Inferno turns out. As long as it's a Dante.

dante is the blatently obvious choice.

it's facepalmingly ridiculous they they haven't used him yet, although since namco is capcoms biggest competitor in the console beat em up market i can see why it might not have happened.

@atastysammich

Now THAT would be a test of jiggle physics. Pubescent eye-candy aside (not that I mind :), she would actually be a pretty kickass fighter.

Wow, we get Kratos using a SWORD.

What the hell?!

That's ridiculous and made further lame by the fact that there are already a dozen sword users in the SC universe.

Project Soul are a bunch of morons for excluding so many awesome weapon choices from the game throughout the years. Wait, I know! More guest characters!

also, i'd love to play soul calibur with ANY character from ninja gaiden. but mostly mr. main ninja himself, Ryu Hayabusha, and be able to use his different weapons (katana, bo staff, nunchucks, shuriken)

I don't know what's up with that picture but in the trailer Kratos uses his chaos blades or whatever they're called and not a fucking plastic sword.

People can say that he fits in well, but I still don't think so, since SoulCalibur has always been set "approximately" in the 1800s, while Kratos is from ancient Greece.

@ Everyone complaining about the sword

Dunno why he's using a sword there, but if you take the time to search for the Kratos trailer, he's using the Blades of Chaos. Stop whining.
