E3 09: I pressed my luck with Press Your Luck 2010 photo

Earlier today, I stopped by the Target Bullseye Lounge to check out two of Ubisoft’s upcoming Wii-exclusive titles. The first of which was Press Your Luck 2010, a practically flawless representation of the 80’s game show.

As I played, I realized the game’s imitation of the source material is its Achilles heel. On one hand, you’re playing Press Your Luck -- you’re answering trivia questions, earning spins on the legendary 18-space game board rife with Whammys and prizes. On the other hand, you’re playing a game that automatically looks and feels dated.

Ubisoft did add new stuff, though. The trivia questions are current and I was told that new Whammy animations were created and added to the game on top of the ancient ones ripped from the game show.

Press Your Luck 2010 allows you to create your own avatars with a robust character creation system. (Glasses and clothing confirmed.) And once you get into the game, you only have to press one button to do everything.

If you’re a fan of the show, I can’t imagine you’d be disappointed. It’s definitely Press Your Luck, but I don’t know if the 2010 tag serves any real purpose.

If this was coming to the 360, I would totally abuse the voice chat in ways that would make "VETO!!!!" Halo 3 players envious.

And yes, it's probably because the word "Whammy" is fun to say.
