Oh SH*T. We did not see this one coming (at least, not so soon). In the Sony press conference announcements, they dropped an incredible new piece of news: Final Fantasy XIV is coming exclusively to PS3, we got to see footage, and it will have some sort of online connectivity. The trailer also showed off flying dragons. FLYING DRAGONS, PEOPLE!
We don't know much more than that yet, but I'll bet we'll be getting more details very soon. We'll be bringing you the full video shown shortly, but int he meantime, please enjoy the picture of an incredibly happy dog that I have provided above and feel free to imagine me making the same face (as I am doing right now).

I remember the days whenever announcements of new Final Fantasies used to get me excited.
Should be set in Ivalice aswell. Galka/Taru/Mithra are ultimate fail compared to Bangaa/Nu Mou/Viera.
I was never a big fan of FFXI, but when I played it I saw a lot of potential. I'll be very interested to see how adept Square-Enix will prove in learning from their first experience in the MMO arena and applying those lessons to FFXIV.
Like others said, this will have online features, like a MMO. But I also think it will have a story mode.
