E3 09: FFXIV will be coming to PC photo

Shortly after Square-Enix's surprise annoucement of Final Fantasy XIV Online, the official website was already up and accessible. While not containing a ton of information at the moment, it does confirm that FFXIV will also make an appearance on the PC. If you missed the trailer shown during the press conference, you can watch it in much higher quality at the site. Additionally, there are a bunch of screenshots, and they look GORGEOUS. Sure, most of them are from the trailer and are pre-rendered, but that doesn't make them any less pretty. Go ahead and check them out.

I know I'll probably buckle and end up buying this. Let's just hope that, unlike Final Fantasy XI, I make it past the free month.

Well of course it's coming out for the PC, it's an online game. But dear god, don't let it be like a MMO game like FFXI. Now I won't have to buy a PS3.

So the exclusive PS3 thing, wasn't that excluisve after all. I wonder about the graphics, probably not top-notch to reach as much pc gamers as possible

Well nobody owns PC gaming. And it's not for the 360 or Wii, so yea, It's still an exclusive.

To me, it seems like the boat fight in the trailer... where the Galka fights the jellyfish... isn't CG but the game engine instead.

Any time you hear the word 'exclusive', there's a 90% chance it'll come out for PC too. Especially if it's a Microsoft product. Almost ALL of their 'exclusives' from yesterday are going to be on PC (where they will be better :P)

When has that ever stopped PC game devs?

Ah, hate to post again so soon, but the boat scenes are definitely not CG. in one of the screenshots, where a Mithra is casting some sort of shield spell, you can see HEALTH BARS in the background.

Mithra confirmed! Also, at the end of the trailer we get a look at three heroes and a Chocobo. The heroes were from left to right, Elvaan, Hume, Galka. This is definitely Vana'diel from FFXI. All that's missing is a Tarutaru!

Hopefully the big differences come in gameplay... especially pacing ;d

I believe he used words like "only console" when announcing this. I want to know more before I get excited about this. But I am very interested in the idea of a good mmo on the PS3, especially if pc and ps3 players will play with eachother.

You know what would be awesome? if it was free to play. screw subscription fees.

I think Microsoft and Sony need to learn what the word 'exclusive' means. Still, good news for PC gamers. I was pissed off that MS didn’t even mention any games for windows initiatives or games or anything.

But who will benefit the most for making this a PC game as well? Sony or Microsoft?

@covah
Not going to happen, servers cost money.

PS3bots are notorious for bitching about 4dollars monthly charge for xboxlive. i wonder if their expecting this one to be free?

anyway, so its FF14 vs NCsoft upcoming Aion for 2009 mmo perhaps

Look at Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X. They all are exclusive to Sony Playstation but were also released for the PC.

@bluexy you can see taru faces in the title design! MMO's cost money, if you're not interested then shut the fuck up. Of course this will follow a pay to play subscription. Just like XI, and other MMO's PC makes more since, but exclusive is obviously referring to the Console Market, as usual. Halo says "only for xbox" on the cover, but in on PC, same with Fable, and various other games that claim to be exclusive. So calm down.

I for one can't wait to see what they have to offer. FFXI was a great fucking game, but it was hard, and frustrating. I expect this game to be more main stream, but at the same time having a lot of its annoying qualities, that I'll have to deal with. This is a pick up on day one for sure, hopefully a release on PC at the same time because I'd rather play this on my computer than on a TV.

I played XI for a bit, but just didn't have enough time to enjoy it, always hated that you need it at least 2-3 hours to get something done.

wow... Nuuuuuuuuu the addiction... GAK is coming back >.<;

Jesus I had to go to rehab to overcome FF11... I made a post about how I feel about this... I hope they fix all the FF11 issues that made it a pain in the ass.

I actually was hoping for a sequal to FFXI, cause I still play ffxi (it's actually enjoyable nowadays with the changes they've made).

Still, this may the mmo to replace ffxi for me.
