Jim gave us a rundown of the Alan Wake Microsoft press conference demonstration yesterday, but thanks to the vigilance of a certain video editor, we have video of said walkthrough. Needless to say, this is the footage we've been waiting entire years to see, and it's not something you want to miss catching.
Besides being genuinely creepy, or as creepy as a game can possibly be in a room full of people, Alan Wake has something I hadn't heard much about previously: a light/dark gameplay element. Not only does lighting up a flare look stunning, it's one of many ways to kill "the dark forces."
Now that Alan Wake -- or, A.Wake if you're in a hurry -- has a solid release date (spring 2010), I am beyond ready to invest myself in learning more about the game.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Hell Yes! It's so good to see a survival horror with more of an emphasis on atmosphere and psychological... well, horror. This should wash away the bad taste that RE5 left in my metaphorical mouth.
Good Gravy that looks tasty. Such amazing graphics and interesting mechanics with the lighting. Great creepy sounds and lots of panic and urgency. This is such a great looking game, I also dig the area setting, woods, cabins, mills, lighthouse, etc. Me neck hairs is a standin' up.
bahh, the problem with this game is that the initial teaser we got was just vague enough that there was ample room to dream up what this game would turn out to be over the years it spent in developmental purgatory. now it's finally out and ready to be played, and it turns out to be nothing like i had imagined. for instance, all the shoosting. this smelled like Secret Window: The Game back when it was first announced, now (as a few have already mentioned) it looks like a slightly more sturdy Alone in the Dark.
i'm not calling bullshit yet, but i definitely smell a rental as opposed to a pre-order.
This is the ONLY 360 game that actually made me wish my XBox360 was still working right now. As a PS3 owner right now, I still say this game looks absolutely amazing. Very fresh and innovative!
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
yes, yes I am.
This game has the hype train behind it, though.
Anyway, I'd like it to be fun, but 5 year development cycles generally don't yield great games, as far as I can tell.

They're doing the same episodic crap that was in Alone In The Dark?
God damn it.
