I’ve never really been all that in to the Warhammer 40K universe -- maybe because of the expensive miniature army building side of the franchise. All this new media THQ sent in from Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II is really making me want to rectify that situation, though.
Aside from the great looking screens in the gallery, there are also two new trailers after the jump. The first is a cinematic trailer that shows members of the Space Marines and Eldar beating the stuffing out of each other. I was especially fond of the scene where one Eldar took a mech's flamethrower to the face. The second trailer shows what we can expect the game to look like in motion. There’s not a lot of footage, but what’s there looks pretty impressive.
The game's community site has also recently opened up, with the developers promising regular updates until release.
It’s looking much more likely that I’ll be checking out Dawn of War II when it releases sometime next March. What about you? And does painting vehicles red actually make them go faster?
Looks awesome. I wish I didn't fail at RTS' though, despite my love for them. Ask Knives (or play him... he walks over your precious troops like they were blades of grass, especially if you grow attached to your troops like me)
Oh WOW! I'm playing through the first games expansions right now actually and these new graphics are AMAZING compared to the first games. Sadly I can't watch the vids just now as I'm at work :( but the detail given to each individual unit is stunning. Very on par with the actual figures. I can't wait! This is a definite must buy for me. Looks like my PC is going to get some good lovin' again soon. Woohoo!
I like Soulstorm, and I'm still playing it often, but I never got as attached with it than with Warcraft, Starcraft or hell, even Age of stuff. Maybe I just need to switch race.
I really liked the Dawn of War games, despite my suckage at RTS' in general. Having less focus on mineral collection and more on combat I think helped.
If this one's at least as good as the first one, I'll be picking it up.
It is my theory that they are avoiding Tyranids to avoid being slagged on by Starcraft fans in the US. Everyone in the UK knows that Games Workshop had all of their WH40K ideas looooong before Blizzard did Starcraft, but the US crowd is a little behind in terms of table top gaming. So to avoid the whole mess they went with the other more unique races in the WH40K universe.

I never got into this series, but the battles look incredibly chaotic and complex. Is it worth checking out previous one(s)?
This doesn't look all that much better than the first with the expansions.
The cinematic isn't nearly as cool as the first one either.
At least it isn't the MMO Joe Mad is working on...
Also the swarms you see at the end in the sky? Can you say Tyranids? I can't think of any other race that invades a planet like that.
Also, it's called Warhammer 40,000 because that's how much money you need to play it. Amirite? Amirite?
I'll be here all week folks.

Goddamn I want that at hte end to be tyranids and not chaos - but it will be chaos ;_;.
Also, YES!
