Ubisoft had a surprise for the audience at the very end of its press conference earlier today. Right before the lights came up, a teaser trailer for the mysterious I Am Alive started playing.

As you can see, this teaser explains absolutely nothing about what the game is about or how it is played. I guess that is why they call it a teaser.

Still, the audience at the press conference seemed to get excited. Maybe they were all really thirsty and wanted Adam's bottle of water just like the hooligans in the trailer. Who knows?! One thing I do know: I can't formulate any opinion on the game based on this video alone. It's just way too cryptic.

What do you think? Is this enough to get you excited in the least for I Am Alive?

Lets take a page from I am Legend and put a badly designed main character in it. I also think has "thirst" as a game mechanic, Jaeger Bomb power ups, perhaps?

Just because it's a dude running around in a crumbled city doesn't mean we should write it off yet. Again, we know nothing about it. Dystopian futures have been around far before the Will Smith remake. And he's already got at least 3 more people hangin around.

If it's anything like Disaster Report, it stands to be something interesting to say the least. I played the Japanese version of Disaster Report and it was definitely a very interesting concept, just needed a bit of polish to the gameplay.

Stories of post apocalyptic, or pseudo post apocalyptic worlds make me hungry for more.
I am now intrigued and excited for the game, at least it´s a really well done teaser trailer.

I'm definitely excited. The first portion reminds me of a public service announcement I made just a while back.

I heard it was supposed to be all in first person and involve hand to hand combat not so much with the guns though, at least that what I saw on IGN yesterday or the day before.

IGN says:

"Jade Raymond, of Assassin's Creed fame, has teamed up with developer Darkworks, the company behind Cold Fear, to bring this new first-person game to the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. While none of this has been confirmed, the web site also said I Am Alive will be similar to the Electronic Arts' published Mirror's Edge because, even though it will be in first-person, the game will not rely on heavy weapons."

And yet another how did I mysteriously survive this mysterious event that mysteriously killed everyone, oh no shock twist ending, dark shady corporation/government was doing experiments on me years ago and I have amnesia/my previous life was a lie, my memories were inserted and it turns out *insert girl character* has been working for them all along! Oh I've been doing their dirty work this entire game, what a twist!

Was there a surplus of overused cliche plots on sale?

Btw, who the heck was in charge of animating that bottle of water? It kinda just bounces on the spot, then gets a burst of speed and moves off to the right, then spins on the spot and shoots off to the left again, like it's on a string. LOL.

Unlike Day of Disaster for Wii, at least this might come out.

ok, there was no sports of any discernable nature, no roided-up space marine, no aliens, no huge breasts, no cacophonous generic techno music, and no fast-cutting scenes overlaid with text giving super-technical information about the game that I don't really understand but can easily regurgitate to people and on message boards.

You mean I'm supposed to decide for myself? You're not suggesting that -gasp- I have to think about it. JUST TELL ME WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO LIKE SO I CAN BLEAT APPROVAL LIKE THE SHEEP I AM!!!!

That trailer has me interested to know more. If its anything like Disaster Report it should be one to watch. Go Ubisoft.

You have my attenion Ubisoft, now please make it a decent game and release it without a tonne of delays or BS.

I really like the vibe they have going here, and want to see what gameplay is going to unfold in the atmosphere they've got down already.

Hope something interesting comes from this.

I like the shot at the end. It is pretty much an exact replica of the shot from Children of Men(but instead of a bomb, there is some sort of earthquake). I can't help but think there is some sort of connection with such an identical shot, not to mention the similar settings and character(average guy somehow gets involved in the plot).

Also, anyone notice how the crack in the ground starts right at his feet with no traces behind him, immedietly after the call is cut out? An EMP might make some sense, and they generally come right before a nuclear explosion would reach you, but there was no boom... I don't know why I'm even thinking about this... Looks cool I guess. Hope it will be.

Yeah, M3tacore, I thought the same thing when I saw him put the coffee on the newspaper rack - I was expecting the explosion, not some kinda earth fissure.

So it's like LOST meets I Am Legend? Sounds aight to me.

I just hope mango trading and dynamite carrying aren't integral gameplay elements. Fucking Via Domus....

That's one godawful model for the main character. I'll wait to pass judgement on the game until I see the gameplay.

"I'm going to spend 20 minutes thinking of a witty way to dissect this teaser trailer so that I look cool in the comments section of this video game website. Everyone look how witty and smart I am."

In all seriousness though, this looks pretty cool. Of course it could go either way, but so far I'm interested. As a child of the 80s, I'm no stranger to the "shattered future" concept, but hey, maybe it will resemble escape from new york, and hell, you can't beat that.

Jade could poop in a napkin and release it on Blu-Ray, and I'd be there on release day. That said, I envision this turning out a lot like Assassin's Creed: A good game, but overhyped and, ultimately, disliked by many because it doesn't match the hype. Just a gut feeling.

Why are all the characters heads so big!? Has dehyrdation caused them all to swell up like melons?

Seriously though, I am intruiged. A non-hammy postapoc game with (im guessing) adventrue game flavours, I like.

Definitely perked my nipples with interest
