I was pretty excited when I first heard about Valkyria Chroniclesearlier this year. More RPGs on the PlayStation 3 is certainly a good thing, and Valkyria’s eye pleasing art style certainly helped to catch my attention. The game’s visuals were created with the CANVAS graphics engine, which is certainly an apt name, seeing as how it makes the game look like a moving watercolor painting. Check out the attached screens to see for yourself.
Valkyria’s story focuses on Welkin, a soldier in the Federation’s 7th infantry platoon that is working to keep the small country of Gallia safe from an invading Empire. There will be over 100 customizable characters that can join Welkin’s force, and, thanks to the BLiTZ tactical battle system, you can control their real-time actions in addition to issuing standard tactical commands.
So it’s a real-time tactical RPG? Sounds good to me. I just hope it doesn’t have the same camera problems that Operation Darkness did. Valkyria Chronicles will be coming to the PS3 sometime this fall. And, according to Sony's press conference, there will also be a version coming to the PlayStation Portable, but there's no release date for that yet.
I absolutely LOVE the art style. Not to bright, not to dull. Very anime infused but not overly done. The tank designs look like something out of Metal Slug, which is awesome. I can't wait to try it out!
This game WILL be mine at launch. Apparently you can recruit Vyse from Skies of Arcadia into your unit in the game and he is addmitedly hot, wow, I can't wait for this.
So I'd like to know if there are differences between the PSP and PS3 version aside from resolution. I mean they are different devices and so it couldn't be the exact same game, could it?
Naia: thats pretty much the same question on my mind. I will be getting this game for the PS3. So if the PSP version is just a port, I'll just pass on the PSP version.
I'll be waiting for what the differences are between the PSP one and the PS3 version... there is greater chance of me playing the PSP version than the other one...

Any reference to SoA = win

There's no word on any differences yet Naia. Sony only slowed like 5 seconds of gameplay in their mass PSP trailer.

This game looks pretty sweet I will be checking it out for sure!
Now here's a reason to buy a PS3.
I was sold the first time I heard about this one. d(^-^)b

I love the art style, and I'm curious how it's transfered to the PSP.
