E3 08: Sega Blowout: Sonic Unleashed photo

While Sega of America is enjoying E3, Sega of Europe is holding down the fort and making sure we all get our hands on lovely assets for their latest games. Chief among them of course is Sonic Unleashed, and the first glimpse of the Werehog in action.

After the jump you'll be able to watch the latest Sonic Unleashed trailer and I promise you that I will NOT mention the music that Team Sonic has decided to use. I'll just say "Seven Rings in Hand" and leave it at that. As mentioned, the vid includes footage of the notorious "Werehog" addition, which shows off the more action-oriented sections of the game. Be cynical about it if you will, but the Werehog sections look far more involved than the "normal" stages.

Hit the jump for the full trailer.

That song is great. And it really does look like the best 3d sonic since sonic adventure.

I'm definitely getting this, but I don't know how I feel about the slow-looking beast...

what happened to the awesome music that was in the last trailer?

hmm. the werehog part seems a little too...well...

shit. i don't want to say slow, but clunky? it doesn't look like it will flow well. i'm still not super keen on the "QTE: THE GAME" aspect, but hell, i'll pretty much take anything at this point that isn't Sonic '06.

waiting till i get a demo, or a rental.

Wow, that song is terrible. What is this, 1997?

Still not digging the digging the hold right and/or up gameplay, and the werehog play is a bit slow.

I mean, I'll give it a shot. I love Sonic too much to shun ANY game before trying it, but this looks like the worst 3D Sonic game so far, in my opinion.

The running looks great but it would appear that your not really playing it...seems like an on-rails platformer with timed button pressing. They should follow capcom's example and do a wiiware/XBLA 2d title.

Is it just me, or does that music sound like something from that one band a few years ago...umm...Blink18somethingorother. Anyhow, i'm reserving judgment until I can has play it.

I will say this though: the trailer didn't make me facepalm.

The fat sonic parts actually make the game look appealing. So at least some of it won't be "Tilt Stick Right, THE GAME!". I hate the parts where you have to tap buttons in succession to make a jump or whatever. That song was just stupid. After 10 seconds I watched it on mute.

It's kind of sad that a Sonic game being developed by another company is gonna end up being a lot better than an in-studio developed game. But then again, it's Bioware, so it's okay.

Werewolf bits look kinda fun to me. Lots of enemies, slow and easy to control, just bogstandard platforming really.

looks great, and the werehog part looks pretty fun, but i do hope that there is a good balance between 'regular' levels and werehog levels

My poops sound better than that music. Also, they need to make better trailers. 75% of it looked like it was on-rails.

if only sonicteam made the game, which they did not. Sega specifically left out the usual sonicteam logo for a reason. Sonicteam simply has nothing to do with this game, due to them screwing up most (read: all) of the recent sonic games) sega put another studio on the job, whos name i forgot.
