I AM excited about that, but aside from Wii Sports Resort, we didn't really get to see it in action. I still have a lot more questions about it.
Also one thing nobody has mentioned: Where was WiiWare?! That was the most disappointing thing for me. They just released the service! Why didn't they talk about it?
i UNDERSTAND nintendo is a business and business MAKE MONEY. I get it.
but when you fucking claim that i should be happy, and pretend that you have *sarcastic voice* "no idea" how i could be upset like someone shifted your world around and you somehow don't know anything about the group that was your sole demographic for all but the last 3 years, that pissed me off. knock off the act and you'll at least have less people pissed off.
It was a pretty lame E3 but I'm pysched about Wario Land Shake and the port of Game Centre CX (Retro Game Challenge)... I never dreamed anyone would translate that!
My inner fanboy (aka sucker) is hoping that Nintendo will make some big announcements at TGS later in the year..
Not to mention that most of the best 'core' games for the Wii more or less abandon motion control, because although no developers want to say it, it's obvious that the technology is far more limited than was initially expected and generally works poorly, forcing you to figure out how to get the remote to register the action you want, instead of just DOING the motion which is the entire point of motion control to begin with.
The Wii motion plus add-on is a great step towards amending that, but of course we've only seen it working on the Wii Sports sequel. Of COURSE it'll work nicely on that, seeing how the original remote performed just as well with the original Wii sports. And aside from the sword fighting, the games could have been done with the regular remote without a huge difference.
As begrudging as I am towards the anti-consumer trend of excessive add ons, hopefully motion plus will stimulate the creativity of third parties and actually release some titles that are both good 'core' games AND make prominent use of the remote. Without using the remote in prominent and innovative ways, what's the point of them making games like No More Heroes on the Wii in the first place?
- Haha, that is one hell of a well stated opinion! I really like what you had to say about motion controls too. Well put russtolium, well put.
Mario Galaxy has to be one of the greatest games I have ever played, I get such a good feeling when I fire up and explore galaxies, its that, "JUST ONE MORE STAR" and its 5am feeling, been ages since I felt like that.
That said, I gotta wonder how they'll top galaxy, its just to good and hearing Miyamoto say that their core franchises need to be dumbed down more doesn't sit well with me.
But there in lies the problem, almost all of the games I want and own for my Wii are games that have been out for awhile, I look at the future and I see nothing interesting, I look at the list of 360 stuff and I can rattle off at least 10 titles I want, I don't like that, I'm getting into the wiimote stuff and not having anything on the horizon makes me sad, I'm glad this Wii was a gift as I would have been upset had I paid money for it for a small handful of amazing games.
As I stated so many times in the past, the Wii is hugely popular now but all it takes is ONE amazing thing, just one thing that everyone can get into and their current marketshare vanishes in the blink of an eye.
From a marketing points, its a terrible idea what Nintendo has done, they said fuck you to their core audience, the audience that's been with them since the NES days, the audience that kept them afloat with 64 and gamecube, they've said fuck you this is what we want now and this is bad marketing, the smart is to keep both groups happy that way you enjoy the profit windfall from both groups.
Do they really believe the older people they've aimed the Wii toward will want to buy the next incarnation of the Wii? Why would they, they are happy with the Wii as it is right now.
I don't think we're asking for something huge here, we just want a bit more content for our Wii's, something out of the realm of gimmicky crap(such as Wii music), I don't have many friends and my parents aren't interested in the Wii, I have no use for family stuff at the moment.
I want more Zack and Wiki, I want something more than just Metroid Zelda and Mario, Nintendo is brilliant, I'm sure they can come up with a new franchise and it would sell on the nintedo name alone, just start the hype machine, "NINTEDO'S NEWEST FRANCHISE" that's a million buys on launch right there.
Instead its just sequels and things like Wii music, not even Wiiware has been that interesting.
Sad thing is, like B-radicate said, as soon as they say "NEW MARIO BITCHES", the majority of the Nintendo fans will be all over it and claim how Nintendo is still king and bla, bla, bla, bla.
