Did you feel numb watching Shigeru Miyamoto's saxophone pantomime during Nintendo's E3 conference? Did hearing that woman scream about puppies and broken wrists while laughing at her own jokes leave you out in the cold? If so, you're wrong because meat-flavored NoA boss Reggie Fils Aimes thinks that so-called "core" gamers had plenty to satisfy them during yesterday's show.
"How could you feel left out? The Animal Crossing that we've been hearing about that people wanted," explained the steak-and-chips boss, when it was suggested that Nintendo didn't have enough on show to thrill the traditional Nintendo fan. "Fully connected to the Internet, go to other people's towns. Plus as I said, Grand Theft Auto on the DS. How do you feel left out with those types of announcements?
"Make no mistake, Mr. Iwata said quite clearly: Mario teams, Zelda teams are working, they're bringing product out for Wii this generation. We're going to continue to bring all our best franchises to both of our key platforms and continue driving that experience both core as well as brand new consumers."
So there. You're bloody wrong if you weren't satisfied with Nintendo's conference. In fact, you only think you weren't satisfied, when actually you loved it. How could you not, when that utter staple of hardcore gaming culture, Animal Crossing, was announced? Don't argue with Hamburger Reggie.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, Jim, you're the greatest :-)
I mean is GTA on the DS? Great, if you like top down GTA or PS1 era looking shooter.
Reggie your Fired!
I think I'm just about ready to give up on Nintendo. No hard feelings, you just don't interest me anymore old buddy...don't make this harder than it already is!! :'(
Nintendos show was a joke. It was like they were pandering to board executives with the litany of profit margins and shovelware upswings. I felt bad for Shawn the snowboarder to have to watch that crazed business woman try to snowboard. They all looked like complete idiots. As much as I love Nintendos foundational past and few good current games the rest is becoming more and more lamentable-almost to the fact Nintendo will eventually not be considered a video game company any longer-they will be relegated to toys r us trade shows, etc while MS and SOny duke it out. What a pity-with so many great IPs to build on they bring out this shlock!
Did I miss something here?
I'm mad at myself for watching the full thing live... I just kept hoping for that one great news-item... but it never came :(
Also, Animal Crossing is not the hardest of cores. Sorry, Reggie. I do like the fact he sounds like he's a kid who got in trouble for not doing their chores or something.
"But mooooooom. Look, I DID clean my room!"
"No, honey, moving your shoes to the corner isn't cleaning your room."
What a whiny bitch. I have zero respect for Nintendo anymore.
Nintendo @ E3 = Epic fail.
Punch him in the cornhole and I'll finish with a boot to the face.
hOW ABOUT W-orthless I-diotic I-ntestinal
thank god I have an Xbox as well otherwise I'd be very disapointed with my gaming experience.
Reggie is an idiot that has to much money. He is not a gamer, he is a puppet just like Myamato.
And I've now come to accept the fact that Nintendo doesn't make games for me anymore, and I'm okay with that. Thanks for the SNES.
No new versions of the games everyone wanted (Zelda, Starfox, et al), more pointless wagglefests (fuck you Wii Music) and more stupid add-ons.
I'm still sore about how dumbed-down Mario Kart and Smash Bros are.
I still like Nintendo, but they are making it hard for me to do so. Casuals are a shitty revenue source. Support the hardcore!
It doesn't make sense. They obviously knew their hardcore followers were watching their event, waiting for them to announce the next big game. Wii Music, Wii Sports Resort, and Animal Crossing. Really, that's what you have been working on for the past year?
Fuck you, Reggie. A few months ago you went on Gametrailers TV and told us that there were going to be games for the hardcore Nintendo fans at E3. Wii Musuic, Wii Sports Resort, and Animal Cross. It's obvious that Nintendo has moved on to a new demographic completely, ignoring the fans that made them what they are today. Their presentation at E3 simply reinforced that opinion. So long, Nintendo, it was great while it lasted.
Wii Music, Wii Sports, Animal Crossing. How could we be disappointed? Right, Reggie?
The hardcore gamers will stick with you through thick and thin untill you fuck them over.
The casuals are very forgetful and would move on to the next best hype without even thinking twice.
Bad move Nintendo.
Not yet, but if this is really all they have going right now... we're swinging closer and closer to fad territory. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm still happy with the Wii. But this complete lack of respect for core gamers.. it's really several steps too far.
If this continues, I'm not getting another Nintendo console.
Both Sony and MS have upgraded their dashboards and added additional functionality.
Meanwhile, Nintendo owners still have no viable storage solution for VC games. Hell, no DVD support either. The casuals would have loved that.
Seriously, why did Nintendo even bother with E3? Are they holding all of the cool stuff for the Tokyo Game Show? Or are they really that lame?
