Since we entered into this generation of consoles, I have patiently waited for a game that could truly deliver realistic destruction on a massive scale. Thousands of games have come to market since then, but none have allowed me to satisfy my need to blow sh*t up ... until now.

After the break, you'll find a video in which the fine people at Volition, Inc. give us a glimpse of what to expect from their upcoming third-person shooter, Red Faction: Guerrilla. Hint: the freedom to demolish everything, and then some.

I find it funny that Guerrilla's destruction engine is so powerful that the enviornment and structure artists had to learn how to create technically sound buildings to prevent them from falling to peices upon being placed inside the game. Now that's dedication.

That's awesome. I loved RF1 and 2. Seeing this, the ability to blow up any building just like I've been imagining it for years now, it going to be great.

When I saw this on G4 all I could think is a 360 blast corps needs to happen NOW.

The first red faction was excellent. A launch title for the PS2 with some really fun gameplay, fun game story, and generally a fun game to play. My complaint was constant load times. Sometimes you would load up, walk two feet, load screen. It was brutal. I never played Red Faction 2, but Voilition has produced some really great games. I'm confident this one will be fun. Especially now that they can fully realize the destructible environments.

Course I've always loved mars stuff. That movie Total Recall really peaked my interest in it.

Definitely a rental at this point.

This is looking damn good, especially if they start adding the appropriate object deformation and charring on those flying I-beams... some of the video looked like lego blocks blasting apart.

Either way if the gameplay is as advertised, this will be one of the games that pushes the industry forward. Whether that means the game will do well critically or commercially I have no idea.

I loved Red Faction but did not get into the 2nd one....

Their new destruction engine looks so cool and it's kinda neat how the buildings actually had to be built correctly or else they would collapse as soon as the game was started!

Very interested!

While the physics-based gameplay whets my appetite for destruction, those graphics look like udder shit. None of those pieces of debris looked like they had any textures on them (besides 'reddish tan' or 'gray') or anything. Plus, the player character didn't look like his animations used any sort of physics whatsoever. Every animation looked canned.

Complete rental at this point, but boy does this engine have promise.

I loved Red Faction 1 (not a launch title, came out in March, 5 months post-launch) but I thought Red Faction 2 was crap.

This game looks sweet, though.

It seems like they probably should have hired an architect or something as a consultant and saved a lot of trouble!

I remember in an interview for Red Faction 1, the developers were bragging that their engine was so powefull that one of the multiplayer levels could be destroyed completely. I was giddy with excitement and picked the game up, got home, booted up that level...it was a level made entirely of GLASS. Motherfuckers >:(

Damn that looks impressive. Red faction was fun, blowing holes in the ground, this looks much more entertaining.

The problem is, they're going to forget to make some object destructible, and that's going to be a major issue for gamers.

Bring back the two based level from RF1, I think it was called Warlords. I'm hoping this will have MP, it'll be great taking down an entire building with an enemy sniper on the top floor. Damn this game better come soon.

When I saw this in action on G4, I flipped. For me, this game made the biggest jump from "I don't know anything about this" to "holy crap do want!"
