E3 08: Peter Molyneux takes us through Fable 2, reveals October release date photo

Never before has bird feces looked so magnificent. I had heard stories about Fable 2's opening sequence a while back, but my feeble mind couldn't comprehend how great it would actually end up being.

Hit the jump to see Peter Molyneux demo Fable 2's co-op system, which is looking rather sharp. While playing the game's single-player mode, you'll see flying orbs travel across the land which represent your friends that are playing Fable 2.

At the press of a button, your friend will transform from an orb to his/her unique character and co-op will commence, completely eliminating the need for an in-game lobby. Amazing, isn't it?

The main focus of the video is how your Fable 2 experience will differ from everyone else's, and that thought alone has boosted my anticipation for the game.

I have a distinct feeling bird crap is a precursor for fable 2

fable 1 was decent, but was by NO MEANS the game i was promised. this game isn't living to that hype/dream either, but it's certainly heading in that direction from the looks of it. maybe by Fable 5 it'll be what it was supposed to be as Fable 1....

Meh. Seems like a waste of developer time for the multi-player for an RPG, honestly.

Fable didn't live up to the hype but it was still hugely fun to play IMO. I have no doubt the second will not live up to the hype either but it will also undoubtedly be fun to play.

it's like the sims and wow all wrapped up in a lovely package of things I like in a game.

it's funny how a lot of people still feel burned from fable 1. it's going to take a while for the franchise to recover from that. not even good reviews of fable 1 could convince a lot of people hyped for the game that they got what they thought they were going to get. shame. shame.

I missed all the hype of fable 1, and thought it was a great game.

I got to play it without all the broken promises.

Maybe I'm just an easily amused idiot but this has gotten me very excited for the game.

I am with Kacie one this one. I never had a Xbox when Fable came out and I never heard any of the hype around it. So when I picked it up I had a blast with the game. Now I am even more exicted for Fable 2, my life will most likely be gone with all these games gaming out.

Man, I really need to play through Fable 1 now... It's been sitting on my shelf untouched due to all the other games I've been trying to finish.

Looking forward to this just a tad more now. I think Fable got an unfairly harsh rap off the back of Molyneux talking about the game during development so much. Things always get cut and scaled back, but usually people don't get to hear about it, that's the problem with the amount of hype and marketing that goes on these days. While it fell short of what was initially planned, it was still a VERY fun and well made game that I enjoyed every minute of.

Curiously, I found the intro movie and its music got me more stoked than "yay, look guys - coop".

God I hated Fable 1. Not because of the hype letdown, it was just a really crap game. Fable 2 looks like it might be better, but I still get this feeling that they are so busy trying to create this grand believable world that they have forgotten to actually make a decent rpg to go along with it. I predict some generic "Evil wizard comes back, oh no the hero must stop him with his magical pendant from his father who mysteriously disappeared years ago" story.

I hadn't even heard of Fable 1 until a friend brought it to my house and let me borrow it shortly after. I don't know what people were talking about. I thought it was an incredible RPG...

Wait, I just watched a video with Peter Molyneaux that took until half way through before he talked about how revolutionary and world changing his new game is. Is he slipping, or am I getting wise to his ways??

Fable as a game was great and this one looks to be great too. I never let the hype overshadow that I liked the game.

Does anyone remember the early, early Fable 2 video where Molyneux talked about 'this dog' and how 'you don't even understand. It's a DOG and he DOES STUFF!'

Man that shit had me on the floor for the whole day laughing.
