E3 08: New Kirby Super Star Ultra info, dated for release photo

Kirby Super Star is my favorite Kirby game of all time, and one of my favorite games on the Super Nintendo. Understandably, I was very stoked when I stumbled upon news of HAL Laboratory’s DS remake entitled Kirby Super Star Ultra last year. Now, thanks to the magic of E3, we have plenty of new screens and info on what’s sure to be the best remake ever. There’s also a short trailer showing the game in action after the jump.

First off, all the original adventures will be making return appearances while sporting new cinematics and updated graphics. Based on what’s in the attached screens everything is looking very bright, crisp, and colorful. There is also mention of brand new adventures, but no specifics on what they’ll contain or how many there will be.

There will also be an increased focus on multiplayer in Super Star Ultra. Three new touch-screen controlled minigames will be added that up to four players can play via the DS’ Download Play: Kirby Card Swipe, Kirby on the Draw, and Snack Tracks. Kirby will also have a new ability to create helper monsters from abilities he’s copied. These can be controlled by another player or the CPU.

Finally, we’re also given a release date: September 22! Only a little more than two months to go! Are you as ridiculously excited for this game as I am?

I love this game, so I'm all over it.

Also, September?! Sweet! By now I'm used to waiting months on end for an anticipated title, so this is great news.

"Kirby Super Star is my favorite Kirby game of all time, and one of my favorite games on the Super Nintendo." Same for me. I hardly ever buy DS games, but I'll be getting this on day one.

They could have announced this at the conference, yesterday. Would have been nice.

I'm with ya Nihon. I don't know why Nintendo didn't think this was worth a mention.

Now this is pretty cool, bringing back Kirby with a Star!
Plus who could forget the timeless journeys through Dream Land?
Looks like a lot of fun, and for new fans to enjoy.

(Nintendo, shame on you for not showing this at your Press conference)

As long as it has the treasure collecting game, I'm sold.

Awesome, Super Star really is the best Kirby game. But, are they still using the same sprites as the GBA games? I can't tell, the video's too small and the screenshots are too big. If they are, then that's pretty disappointing, but at least they were good sprites, and there'll be new animations.

This is the biggest news out of E3 so far.

Not saying much, but I loves me some Kirby. Especially Super Star! Those cutscenes look awesome.
