E3 08: Just what in the hell is Destructoid doing in LA this week? photo

Ahhh -- smell the fresh Eve of E3 air! While the show officially kicks off this Tuesday, July 15, members of team Destructoid have already touched down in the City of Angels in preparation for the big week.

It's going to be a wild one, for sure. While we already have a good idea what we'll be seeing from publishers over the next few days, we're still expecting a few surprises. We're sure to hear tomorrow at Microsoft's, Electronic Art's, and Square Enix's respective conferences. And what does Bungie have up their sleeve, and does it have anything to do with Microsoft's press conference or -- gasp -- EA's? (Cue spooky music.)

So what should you expect from us this week? A hell of a lot, actually. Get this: there are going to be eight of us covering the show (including myself): Anthony Burch, Chad Concelmo, Colette Bennett, Niero, Ron Workman, Tiff Chow, Dale North (the sexy one), and Jonathan Holmes catching all of the action on video man-on-the-street-style.

Expect a ton of coverage, including hands-on impressions, screenshots, video, and live-blogging of key events. We recommend hitting F5 all week, but hit the jump to see what we have in store for each day.

[Per day, in no particular order.]

That sounds pretty insane!

I'm most excited for the conferences, see what surprises we don't know about.

Also hopefully you'll have time to party with us LA locals.

All I want to know is when there's going to be an LA NARP so I can attend.

Forget all this gaming news business.

I'm hoping that there is a mirrors edge and fallout 3 demo not only so you can give 1st impressions, but also going onto PSN and XBL either the very next day or after the E3 event so we can get some 1st impressions.

I would of exspected a new lich king trailer but since blizzard got bought out by activision and they left the gamers council thing they wont be there, shame but still I hope theres plenty of amazing suprises.

"... and more!" - Vidya Game Industry Speak for "assload of press parties"

With all the drinking that is sure to go on, I'm expecting a downward trend in the number of articles per day from you guys as the week progresses. Hopefully by Thursday you'll all be hungover and surly, mumbling incoherently and starting fights.

On a serious note, who's biting the bullet and trekking over to BE-3?

Aw, the memories of E3. Back when I used to work for WaldenSoftware (which was bought out by Borders, which was bought out by Eletronic Boutique, which was bought out by...)I remeber when the booth babes were a big deal as well as great games. It would be nice to meet all the Dtoiders attending this year's E3.

Hey, think any of you are going to be available for a few drinks during E3? Need to party it up a bit while you're in town. I'm sure the LA chapter of faithful robots would most fervently agree with me.

I'm sure the hotels have SOMETHING that might pass for a bar. Otherwise, it's off to the fop houses.

If there is no F-Zero Wii, I will have to book a flight out to Kyoto. I might have to pay a Mr. Iwata a visit.

Skip the trip to Mr Iwata and go straight to Miyamoto to kick him squar in the nutsack for loathing the F-Zero series.

Huh? No Ubisoft? Are you not covering them, or did you forget about them? Or are they under the "...and more!" category?
