If the DS could handle a completely 3d GTA I'd love it but at this point I can't help but think they may be going back to the top-down style. Either way, I think it'll be good.
If they stick to the basics it could be really good. I'm not holding out much hope though. Where were the screens or gameplay footage though? Is it far out in release date?
I hope it's in 3rd person view and not top-down like the older GTA's. I never really liked the "top-down view" GTA's. I'm semi-interested to see more info, but I'm definitely skeptical.
bhive: Ain't no content other than the main picture above.
Iggy: They could do 3D, Star Wars Unleashed is 3D. Of course, it looks ugly as fuck.
The metroid game on the DS was 3d, and that game looked amazing.
Is that really a shock? The first handheld GTA game was on the GBA after all..
Any thinking that it will look Fugly as hell?
Rated E for everyone.
ehhh I don't really care about it. If it's really in 3D (which it sounds like it is) than it's going to look ugly as fuck. Plus I can't imagine stepping back down to this after playing GTA4 in all it's glorious physics laden wonder.
@Chicken008
GTA and GTA2 came out for the Game Boy color before GTA Advanced.
First, FF13 makes it to XBox360.
Next, handheld GTA leaves PSP for the technologically inferior DS
I am speechless. I am without speech
They should keep the top-down style, perhaps have animated cutscenes in 2D style as well. Most developers know that the DS doesnt handle 3D well, unless done in a very special way.
Biggest Nintendo news gets a solid DO NOT WANT!!!
Seriously, where the hell are the Kid Icarus and StarFox games? As in non-casual revisits to the reason they are even still around.
If they do take a bash at 3D I hope it's back to the silly jetpacks, double uzis and tanks, none of this serious malarkey.
It'll probably be PS2 style graphics on the DS which is kind of lame. Why they didn't just put this on the Wii is beyond me but anything Wii involved these days just baffles me so I guess this is on par with the rest of shit fest that is Nintendo for me these days.
Actually, if it was in the old GTA2 style, I would really dig that. Assuming you could pan the camera back without having to travel as fast as freaking possible so you can see where you're going while in a vehicle.
Top down GTA on the DS would be awesome.
Touching to kill...*GASP*
This could be a cool little game!
I'm kinda Grand Theft Autoed out...also Nintendo is now dead to me sooo...I'm kinda split on this game.
Honestly, I'm hoping for a top-down perspective. I miss the GTA of old.
I'm thinking top-down view with d-pad to move, stylus to aim combat control. Kinda like Geometry Wars.
If you've played the DS Transformers game you'd know how a 3rd person open world is a bad idea.
Johnny has a good idea. Strafe with D-pad, look with touch screen. Also have it in 3D like in New Super Mario Bros, where the character and the environment are given 3D aspects, but hold true to the original.
@ nukka jdav
yeah you sound really split 0_o
Grand Theft Auto? On a DS?
Yawn.
I'd rather be stabbed in the anus. What is all this shit Nintendo keeps announcing?
I think the only way they can make this work in 3D is if they make it cell-shaded. I kind of want it to be top down view. but that doesn't seem like it would work well in multiplayer...
