God of War III was finally announced towards the end of the PlayStation keynote earlier today. At the end of God of War II, Kratos and the Titans were making their way to Mount Olympus to take on Zeus and the remaining Gods. This little teaser shows the aftermath of Kratos' invasion.
The pre-rendered trailer is pretty short and ends with Kratos standing on top of a ruined building and uttering the words "In the end, there will only be chaos!".
Don't expect God of War III until sometime in 2009. Hit the jump to check out the teaser trailer.

I reeeaally wish they had shown some gameplay. It's really hard to get excited for a minute long pre-rendered video. Especially when the game is sooo far away.
Yeah, kind of disappointing. We already knew GoWIII was coming, so a 20 second prerendered teaser was unnecessary. Would've loved some real time footage or something.

This plus the fact the 80gb PS3 will become $400 and include a Dualshock3 controller come this September has sold me a PS3.
Also, if the in-game engine can come anywhere close to looking like the water and fiery mountain scenes in this teaser, then I will shit a brick and eat it.

The trailer was what I expected, I didn't think we'd see any gameplay this early. I'm guessing the game isn't due until later next year.
