E3 08: Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360, b*tches) trailer photo

Here it is, you salivating dogs, the trailer that made the Internet explode and the GameFAQs board full of hilarious bile, this is the video that revealed Final Fantasy XIII as an Xbox 360 release.

It's very rare that I find press conferences memorable (especially as I'm stuck at home watching them) but the moment that Yoichi Wada returned to the stage for "one more announcement," I could feel the Internet begin to quake. Relive the glory days of several hours ago with this Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 trailer, straight after the jump.

So... when are they going to announce Versus for the 360?


also, I would be thrilled right now, but ever since SS and Enix merged... their games just haven't been the same. Last good game by them, imo, was FF10.

I'm still confused how that is a "360 trailer". I know it was shown at the MS press event.

But at the end of the trailer is says, "For PLAYSTATION 3 only in Japan"

That seems to me like it's the PS3 trailer shown at the MS press event. Couldn't they get their own trailer? Or did they just have to take the PS3 one and call it their own now?

Not trying to bait here, but surely the 360 will require disc changes? Final Fantasy games are always ridiculously huge.

Couldn't care less that its coming out on 360...other than it means we'll have to wait longer for it. Not looking forward to the fanboy wars though!

Square Enix execs answer a few questions there. Multiple discs pretty much confirmed (like Lost Odyssey).

The way the answer was phrased, it seems they're gonna finish development on PS3, then port it to 360.

From Kotaku liveblog:

"2:02 first they will finish ffxiii in japan. and then they will start localization for english.

2:03 at that point, they will start the xbox 360 development. "

HAHAHAHA. Can you just imagine the fanboys who have dedicated months/years to defending the PS3 and FF XIII, who are right now lying on the floor crying? The fact that the crushing realization of how fucking dumb it is to be a console fanboy just crushed the souls of about 5000 fatties. God I bet you could dig up some classic threads on IGN.

Loosing FF and loosing GTA are big things. MS has managed to reduce the difference between the gaming on the two consoles to RROD.

MS has achieved what they wanted to this generation and is well positioned for the neXtBOX

Final Fantasy jumped the shark at 10. 11 sucks for obvious reasons. 12 sucked because it was just plain boring and felt like .HACK with pretty graphics. I haven't even been thinking about 13, much less looking forward to it.

Anyway, by all means, keep bickering about a series that's long since gone down the tube.

This is all sony's fault. Microsoft in my mind really hasn't done all that much to gain FF...i think it's just square enix making the smart business decision to to put it on the 360 to make them more money. Thats what it's all about in their eyes. Without exclusive rights inking them extra cash, they are forced to release it on the 360. I couldn't be happier since i'm only ever going to own a 360 and i loves it.

Is that a dude or a chick? I think I'm sick of Final Fantasy. Give somebody some skin tone for once. They all look like they're caked in makeup man-she boys. Also, guns suck. If there are guns, why use a sword. Why even get into a melee when I can junk the guy from 100 feet away. I'll take a gun, you take a sword. Boom you're dead. Game over.

Actually I am going to guess that the footage we have seen so far is neither xbox 360 or PS3. This is still on the PC dev kits per the Square press meeting today

"12:57 - Gamasutra asks about the game's status as far as development goes. Kitase says that they're using Crystal Tools to develop using PCs. They've picked up the pace. We should expect to see new footage in the "near future.""

I'm guessing its still a little ways off before we see the real game.

Why do you people even CARE on which hardware the trailer is running? Like Konchu said, it's most likely PC at this point! The graphical muscle difference between the two consoles are freaking negligeable, the differences usually being quirks at best!
Crying for graphical quality differences died last gen. For crap's sake, leave it behind where it belongs! Sheesh.

I imagine it's very flattering that we think $quare just killed the PS3 but if the system's life depended on that one game it deserved to die anyway.

People prefer shoddy hardware, companies prefer easy money (a la prostitute), Micro$soft is the Devil, and we're all loving it. Damn it feels good to share an interest with you all.

More people to play it the better, sure it could have been nice fodder for PS3 fanboys, but it is a smart business decision for Square on this one. The idiotic console fanboys need to go away. But just to excite them further, how many 360 users will have to send their consoles in during the 40+ hours of gameplay needed to finish the game?

The first thing I thought when the trailer started on G4 was, "That sounds like Nobuo.... It couldn't be.... HOLY F*** IT IS!"
I was on the verge of tears when I watched. The only temptation for buying a PS3 for me was FF XIII. And I thought I would have to give up on it. But now....omg I am so damn happy....

At first I was like "yah woot I dont have to buy ps3 now" but I was more excited to play versus which is still ps3 exclusive. So that's a bummer.

Also I never played the ps2 FFs because I never had a ps2, so anyone who says twelve sucks... good thing I got to skip it.

Only for PS3 in Japan. Because the 360 is selling like balls there, they are only releasing it on the PS3.

Btw, I like all the whino's complaining about "How is it a 360 trailer?" Christ. Who cares. It's a video at the Microshaft Conference. Regardless of what it says at the end, it's coming to 360, so who cares? It's announced. People are always the same when it comes to gaming. "Doesn't exist and isn't proven until I see a machine running it or a watermark on the video saying 360 gameplay."

It's not that the radical change in gameplay style killed it for most fans, it's just it was plain boring with bland characters (save maybe for Balthier). I hold that opinion myself (eventhough I clocked in at 116 hours without beating Yiazmat).

IIRC, Squeenix is trying to replicate the action scenes of FFVII:AC in game format...

No offense to those that own a 360, but isn't this kind of game a bit off the base demographic for 360 owners? While I understand Squeenix wanting to make money, they should also be aware of their target audience, and that 360s aren't selling for shit in Japan. RPGs as a whole, with the exception of Oblivion, haven't sold well on the system.

I could care less if it's for the 360 as well, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the 360 version of this game tanked. Fanboys might rub it in other fanboys faces, but they probably won't buy it.

I like FF games for their great story, amazing dialogue, and dynamic characters. FF12 had none of that. The new gameplay was welcomed by many fans, so I don't know what you're talking about.
