One of the big shockers from the Microsoft press conference was the unveiling of a new Final Fantasy XIII trailer and the subsequent announcement that the once exclusive title would be coming to the Xbox 360. The foregone conclusion one could draw from the announcement is that all Square Enix titles have the propensity to float multi-platform. Fortunately for the Sony crowd, a PSU interview with Square Enix executive Shinki Hashimoto has revealed that Final Fantasy XIII Versus will remain exclusive to the PS3:
We won't change policy. Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
The interview also revealed that
FF Versus XII director Tetsuya Nomura was working on another titled called
One Goal Spirit. We have no clue what that game is about, but work on it has since been stalled in favor of
Final Fantasy XIII. The big question remains, will
FF Versus XIII be a “timed exclusive” or one of those real exclusive things?
I’m always a bit torn about exclusive titles. On one hand, exclusivity usually assures a great title that was excellently funded and shipped with few flaws. On the other hand, exclusivity can really hurt the gamer without the console. For a good chunk of time, it was looking like Xbox 360 owners were going to miss the bus on
Final Fantasy XIII entirely, which would have been incredibly unfortunate. This might all be irrelevant by the end of the week anyway, as E3 has barely even started. Yet, what do you guys think about this? Would you rather just have
FF Versus XIII on the PS3? Or would you mind letting Xbox 360 owners having a crack at it?
What is it?
Ha!
Sony fanboys need to stop being such whiny bitches.
...GTFO. you seem like the type that would prefer the GT forums then to here.
I'm starting a petition to keep FFXIII an XBOX360 exclusive. WHO'S WITH ME!?
Exactly, high profile exclusives keep the industry competitive, and that's a good thing for gamers. When you reach the point when the majority of games are no longer exclusive, then the overall quality is going to degrade, and we all lose.
I thought Garrfunkel was being ironic with that statement. Or facetious. Or sarcastic. I forget which - it's too damn early to think right now.
But they very certainly did.
If you are a third party developer why would you sell only to 14 million or just 19 million when you could sell to 33 million. Just bad business. And to all the fanboys out there, who cares??? Everyone makes a big deal about FF13 (PS3 fanboys and 360 fanboys), but in reality more people get to enjoy the game. Not a big deal.
I'm not sure if I can believe Versus will remain a PS3 exclusive though. Maybe after losing FF-XIII Sony are even more keen to keep at least one FF exclusive on their system.
All we know for sure right now is that we cannot trust whatever Square Enix says (or what any publisher says really)
I own all three consoles, and I still wish FFXIII was exclusive to the PS3.
No really, I spit on them. I have a carton of wet wipes near my monitor because it's become an involuntary reaction, to spray saliva at those who would threaten my sense of being a "have", as the King Cobra would to those who encroach on its territory.
What really pisses me off is exclusive content, like what happened with GTA4 and is now happening with Fallout 3. Personally, I'm not a big enough GTA4 fan to buy extra content. Fallout 3 however is an instant buy for me and I'm sure any add-on's to it would be as well.
Sony has really been dropping the ball as far as exclusive downloadable content goes, but they still have to give their presentation today so we'll see what happens.
I might have to import T-T.
Sorry wallet I need the money I just fed you.
See theres the problem, we PS3 owners don't believe that is the truth. Take for instance GTA4 and Infamous. Same open world gameplay, except Infamous is better looking has better effects and everything else. Since GTA4 was thrown onto a shitty DVD format its crappier looking than it should have been. We complain because we made the better choice, with MODERN technology. Where as Xbox comes out of the box looking backwards, from lack of wifi to lack of harddrive. Xbox owners suffer from their own backwards looking community. From games that suffer from having to work on consoles without a harddrive to other limitations.
Xbox holds the Xbox back, what effect do you think it has on the PS3.
