Hey look! There's finally going to be a DC all-star game! Took them forever to get on that ball, eh? Sony Online debuted the first ever footage of DC Universe Online during the Sony Press Conference and it looks interesting.
In DC Universe Online, you'll play with or against your favorite super heroes or super villains. So, you won't actually be playing as the iconic heroes or villains, just next to them. You will be able to create your own hero/villain and who's to say you won't be able to make a Superman clone ... or Spider-Man clone (OH SNAP).
DC Universe Online will be coming out for the PlayStation 3 and PC and you can check out the trailer after the break. What are your first impressions?
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Meet the rest of the team
Marvel was supposed to have a game like this come out for the 360 but it all went to pot. There goes my dream of shotting spider man as a punisher clone
I may be the only one looking at the comments who is excited about teaming up with Bizzarro, Solomn Grundy, The Joker, Hush... Or making a Flying Green Arrow type hero... CANT WAIT
Oh lawrd! Needs moar awkward models and horribly early-alpha animations. I know its just an early teaser, but were I them, I would not show that to the public yet.
Also, hate the Joker face they're showing here.
I'd like to see this one not suck, but between SOE and what this trailer 'proudly' shows, I wouldn't bet on this game being a big success.
do want do want do want do want do want do want do want do want do want. its a fucking MMO WITH SUPERHEROS, MY FAVORITE ONES TOO!!!!!!!! i have just splurged like i never have before. without sex. :D
Very early days. I'm thinking summer 2009. Read the thing in Edge about it. It's all touch n go at the moment but they are confident of making a good game out of it (taking their experience from the Star Wars Galaxies game thingy and improving on what they learned).
I want to know how customizable it is and what powers/equipment you can use, as well as how sandboxy the world is- if there are civilians/npc's walking around and I can be a supervillian whacking their heads off and blowing up buildings online, it sounds like fun- if it is just a team up with villians and heroes and have big battles it would be kinda lame
Anyone saying SOE should get out of the MMO business is just freaking stupid. Plain and simple. Everyone just attaches themselves to the mistake that was NGE without realizing that without SOE many games would never have gotten off the ground at all, let alone would we have the MMOs that we have today due to their innovation in the MMO industry. This doesn't mean that DC Online will be a good game because I've said this, but SOE is far from a bad MMO maker or company. Very far.
Now, as far as the trailer, I don't care for the graphics personally and I have no clue how the game would be played out since we don't know anything about character creation, growth, and general gameplay. Champions Online, which will be on the 360 and PC, currently looks much better at this moment because I love the cartoon graphic engine they're using for characters and they've actually started to share various bits of information that explains how they plan to allow characters to grow and interact with the game world.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
D- would not watch again
