WiiMusic is chockfull of all the instruments you'd expect to be available for waggling your Wiimote to, as well as a few other 'instruments' that you absolutely didn't expect. While the full hands-on report will be arriving to the site a little later on, I figured I'd whet your appetite for what's to come by introducing WiiMusic's Puppy Suit instrument. Available amidst the harmony options, the Puppy Suit is, well, your Mii wearing a Puppy Suit. Making puppy sounds. Oh yeah.

But what is a Puppy Suit? Where did it come from? How on earth does it make music? Take a look at the above video (sorry for the loud showroom noise in the back) and then hit the jump to hear more about this musical furry costume and a special explanation of the instrument by yours truly to the puppy loving Chad Concelmo!

When choosing the Puppy Suit as your harmony instrument in WiiMusic, the Wiimote and the nunchuck become your large, plushy puppy hands. By moving them in front of you, your Mii will emit tiny puppy yelps. It's ridiculous, and adorable, to hear the Super Mario Bros Puppy remix, but it feels kind of weird to 'play' the suit when you're just pawing at thin air.

You'll also notice in the video the option to use turntables and beat boxing as instruments. Fancy huh! I get a little more in depth about those when explaining my experiences to Chad in the video bleow:

In after HURR WII MUSAK SUK

Currently, my stance on this is cautious optimism. It could be interesting, but the tracklist may very well be a turn-off.

I can safely say this is the least interesting toy I've ever seen hyped so heavily. The argument for this is that it's for the casual gamer--fine. But I seriously have a hard time believing ANYONE thinks this looks fun.

p.s. Since I'm commenting already, that drummer at the press conference has either never played drums before, or Wii Music isn't responsive enough to relay any actual rhythm.

Actually on second thought, I guess playing an instrument is incredibly similar to erratically flailing one's arms around.

oh, come on...it can't be true...and by the way wearing a puppy suit doesn't make you bark like a puppy.
like someone said in the video: ridicolous.

on a side note, I'm sure this suit will make Wii Music sell another million copies more than it was previously thought.

I keep getting flashbacks to years ago when songs done completely in keyboard sampled barks and meows were all the rage. This is not a good thing.

There are parts of this game that have potential. There are also large parts that have none.

Pray Nintendo tweaks this damn game before it comes out. God knows all the negative coverage ought to be enough for them to take it back to the drawing board.

For some reason the puppy suit made me too insanely giddy.. Kind of reminds me of the noises from Mario Paint that I spent way too much time with as a kid.

I'm confused. Will there be a dog suit accessory packaged with this game? Will I have to wear it while I bark and waggle?

Granted, this doesn't make me any less excited about what looks like the best wii game since Boogie (yeah!).

riomccarthy made mention of Mario Paint, which got me thinking, is Wii Music really that "out of the ordinary" for Nintendo? Mario Paint wasn't a "game" either but it was still loads of fun, maybe Wii Music won't be so bad once we get to play it more.

While I'm still not looking forward to the title, I remain optimistic that it may surprise me in the end.

@iwontusemyname

I think people are refering to the Jam session like feature like were the Ravi guy actually seemed to be making everything happen(even if it didn't sound that great). And if this game has that feature for all instrument were you could actually make music like Jam Sessions on DS. It could possibly be to music what Mario Paint was to drawing. But I don't know this game will pull that off right. We can only wait and see but so far I am a bit underwhelmed by it.

I usually have a fairly decent tolerance for casual games, but for some reason, WiiMusic is slowly but surely killing my soul. It's like, "Let's take Rock Band on the easiest setting, then dumb it down even more so that an inbred hamster could do it! It prints money!"

I'm not saying one could never have fun with the game, but anyone who considers themselves a real gamer should be at least slightly offended by this game. It's like being a cinema buff and staring down the barrel of a dozen Zac Effrons.

CLEARLY this is an outrage. If they were gonna put a damn suit in here as a musical instrument, they could have at least made it the Tanooki suit!

...though I'm not quite sure what kind of sound a Tanooki Suit would make....still...

So Nintendo considers a puppy suit an instrument...so does that mean anything that makes sound is fair game? Of the 50 or 80 some odd instruments there are 10 real instruments and the rest will be whatever random thing they pull out of their ass???

I played the Mario Theme with puppy noises at the LI NARP. It was in a game called "Donkey Konga."

Also, playing Legend of Zelda Theme with lazer noises is fucking sweet. Pew pew!

I would rather they just re-make Mario Paint for Wii than have this thing. Please?
