WiiMusic is chockfull of all the instruments you'd expect to be available for waggling your Wiimote to, as well as a few other 'instruments' that you absolutely didn't expect. While the full hands-on report will be arriving to the site a little later on, I figured I'd whet your appetite for what's to come by introducing WiiMusic's Puppy Suit instrument. Available amidst the harmony options, the Puppy Suit is, well, your Mii wearing a Puppy Suit. Making puppy sounds. Oh yeah.
But what is a Puppy Suit? Where did it come from? How on earth does it make music? Take a look at the above video (sorry for the loud showroom noise in the back) and then hit the jump to hear more about this musical furry costume and a special explanation of the instrument by yours truly to the puppy loving Chad Concelmo!
When choosing the Puppy Suit as your harmony instrument in WiiMusic, the Wiimote and the nunchuck become your large, plushy puppy hands. By moving them in front of you, your Mii will emit tiny puppy yelps. It's ridiculous, and adorable, to hear the Super Mario Bros Puppy remix, but it feels kind of weird to 'play' the suit when you're just pawing at thin air. You'll also notice in the video the option to use turntables and beat boxing as instruments. Fancy huh! I get a little more in depth about those when explaining my experiences to Chad in the video bleow:

Nintendo: Letting more inept people believe they are a maestro than ever before?
Please stop giving Wii Music coverage. Please!
In after HURR WII MUSAK SUK
Currently, my stance on this is cautious optimism. It could be interesting, but the tracklist may very well be a turn-off.
I will succeed in destroying you Nintendo. Know that, at least.
Seriously? This is what we're devolving into?
Get me off this god-forsaken planet.
I can safely say this is the least interesting toy I've ever seen hyped so heavily. The argument for this is that it's for the casual gamer--fine. But I seriously have a hard time believing ANYONE thinks this looks fun.
p.s. Since I'm commenting already, that drummer at the press conference has either never played drums before, or Wii Music isn't responsive enough to relay any actual rhythm.
Maybe if we stop talking about Wiimusic, it will just disappear
You know I'm becoming a big fan of these videos. Thanks.
Actually on second thought, I guess playing an instrument is incredibly similar to erratically flailing one's arms around.
oh, come on...it can't be true...and by the way wearing a puppy suit doesn't make you bark like a puppy.
like someone said in the video: ridicolous.
on a side note, I'm sure this suit will make Wii Music sell another million copies more than it was previously thought.
I keep getting flashbacks to years ago when songs done completely in keyboard sampled barks and meows were all the rage. This is not a good thing.
They're just trying to make it seem better by adding the tinest "bonuses".
There are parts of this game that have potential. There are also large parts that have none.
Pray Nintendo tweaks this damn game before it comes out. God knows all the negative coverage ought to be enough for them to take it back to the drawing board.
For some reason the puppy suit made me too insanely giddy.. Kind of reminds me of the noises from Mario Paint that I spent way too much time with as a kid.
Maybe there will be a wrong suit next.
i love chad!!!
I'm confused. Will there be a dog suit accessory packaged with this game? Will I have to wear it while I bark and waggle?
Granted, this doesn't make me any less excited about what looks like the best wii game since Boogie (yeah!).
Ridiculous agreed!
ridiculous...
Also... For some weird reason watching your two laugh made me laugh.
Why????
if there is a puppy suit that makes puppy noises, and not a giant ass that makes fart noises, i will be terribly dissapointed.
...
I can't take any more Wii Music coverage. Is this all Nintendo is talking about?
GAME OF THE YEAR!
this is worse than the XFL.
We <3 Chad! We <3 Tiff!
We <3 Chad's awesome facepalm! For Serious! <3
<3 Spread trher luv
It is ridiculous....and probably gonna print money.
Love the vids Tiff!
Ohhhh Thank God now I can sleep at night!! WTF NINTENDO!!!!
I'll take twelve
@nosinging
Actually I think they said he was a professional drummer so I did a little googling here is his site and has some decent embedded sound. http://www.ravidrums.com/index.html
riomccarthy made mention of Mario Paint, which got me thinking, is Wii Music really that "out of the ordinary" for Nintendo? Mario Paint wasn't a "game" either but it was still loads of fun, maybe Wii Music won't be so bad once we get to play it more.
While I'm still not looking forward to the title, I remain optimistic that it may surprise me in the end.
ridiculous, indeed.
i don't understand the mario paint comparison people seem to keep making.
@iwontusemyname
I think people are refering to the Jam session like feature like were the Ravi guy actually seemed to be making everything happen(even if it didn't sound that great). And if this game has that feature for all instrument were you could actually make music like Jam Sessions on DS. It could possibly be to music what Mario Paint was to drawing. But I don't know this game will pull that off right. We can only wait and see but so far I am a bit underwhelmed by it.
Oh ... my ... God ...
This game is going to suck so badly.
Can't...resist...cute...puppies
Wow. Just wow.
Sorry about the large picture. I didn't know it would be that big...
I usually have a fairly decent tolerance for casual games, but for some reason, WiiMusic is slowly but surely killing my soul. It's like, "Let's take Rock Band on the easiest setting, then dumb it down even more so that an inbred hamster could do it! It prints money!"
I'm not saying one could never have fun with the game, but anyone who considers themselves a real gamer should be at least slightly offended by this game. It's like being a cinema buff and staring down the barrel of a dozen Zac Effrons.
CLEARLY this is an outrage. If they were gonna put a damn suit in here as a musical instrument, they could have at least made it the Tanooki suit!
...though I'm not quite sure what kind of sound a Tanooki Suit would make....still...
@kannon
Clearly the people going ape shit for the maracas game are not the same people bagging on this game. Both seem pretty shitty to me.
Tiff and chad are both very cute people...
Were you on weed on that video?
And aparently so do i. Seeing my blank post.
But wow, i wouldn't pay 50 bucks for this game... i'm not sure if i would pay for it at all.
So Nintendo considers a puppy suit an instrument...so does that mean anything that makes sound is fair game? Of the 50 or 80 some odd instruments there are 10 real instruments and the rest will be whatever random thing they pull out of their ass???
woowoowoowoof woof
woowoowoof woowoowoof
woof woof woof
I played the Mario Theme with puppy noises at the LI NARP. It was in a game called "Donkey Konga."
Also, playing Legend of Zelda Theme with lazer noises is fucking sweet. Pew pew!
I would rather they just re-make Mario Paint for Wii than have this thing. Please?
Oh no guys! The serious game isn't taking itself seriously!
Looks simplistic and stupid.
@Salty Soil
HEY TIFF!
It seems you'r now at the Famitsu site in their coverage of Wii Music. You seem pretty happy there, maybe you were just watching the puppy suit!!!
Oh, and the video is so awesome, you both made me laugh so much guys, so keep the hard work done Destructoiders!
Holy Crap! Yeah I noticed this guy taking photos of me. I think I was trying out either the beat box instrument or the bagpipes, but if I remember correctly I was laughing at how ridiculous they were.
BUT HAY. ONE STEP CLOSER TO BECOMING FAMOUS IN JAPAN !_!
