Bungie Splash Image

Have you been "keeping it clean?" Are you dying to know what the "TRU7H" is? Looks like you're going to have to keep on waiting a while longer.

Bungie's home page has been updated with a message from company president  Harold Ryan which states that, while they had intended to announce a new game at E3, their publisher has other ideas and no announcement will be made at this time. All of this comes after months of people scouring Bungie's site, looking for appearances of a mysterious logo referred to as the "superintendent". Bungie themselves had placed a new splash page teasing the announcement on Monday.

It's interesting to note that the publisher in question has yet to be named. I think many assumed it would be Microsoft Game Studios and that's still a safe bet, especially considering the glut of press information they delivered yesterday. Then again, there are murmurs that EA might be distributing the new project. All a bit mysterious, don't you think?

Full text of Harold Ryan's apology message to Bungie fans follows the jump.

Subject: E3 Announce

For the last several months, we've been building toward a reveal of something exciting that Bungie is working on. We were looking forward to sharing that with our fan community during the week of E3. However, those plans were just changed by our publisher.

We realize that many of our fans are disappointed by this turn of events; members of the Bungie team share that disappointment.

When the right time comes, we look forward to sharing this exciting announcement with you. Until then, we appreciate your continued support and patience.

Harold Ryan
President
Bungie LLC

Its Bungie messing with their public. They would've made it a forum or news post and taken down the splash screen if it was genuine.

Plus sending this out at exactly 7pm? Bit precise don't you think?

Also it's odd that the page used to say REMAIN CALM... but now they are causing panic on purpose.

Luke Smith confirmed on NeoGaf that Microsoft is still publishing Bugnie and that this sort trick is not their "style" so it seems legit that nothing is going to happen.

God I hope it's not an FPS, and if it is not a sci-fi FPS. I wanna see something totally out of left field from them, like a WW2 basketball rhythm game.

If this was all part of the viral marketing, why would Bungie admit that it's fake?

Wait until July 17th.

I can't imagine what it is. The Superintendent makes me think of Boom Blox or something like that. I'd like to see Bungie try something Portal-like, though.

The word Superintendent reminds me of a police-officer. At least, it does to me.
