Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce 2 announced photo

Koei Tecmo has today announced Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce 2. The original PSP version is currently in the works for PS3 and Xbox 360, but that hasn't stopped the almighty sequel masters from declaring a brand new one, scheduled for Spring 2010.

Shin Sangoku Musou Multi Raid 2, as it is known in Japan, shall release with an all-new story mode, new characters, a new weapon system and, most importantly, a crucial online mode. The lack of online is what let down the original co-op PSP title, which could have been the best DW game ever were it included.

This is good stuff. Strikeforce was a great shot in the arm of the hack n' slash series, but it really needed to be able to go online. This should lead to a great game, if you like that sort of thing.

Had the demo from the Japanese PSN store for a few days now. Same old DW.... mash one button. I wasn't very impressed.

Never mind. I think it's another DW demo. Not sure, hard to read anything but "Multi Raid Special" in the demo title, ignore my previous comment.

welcome to the genre of Beat em ups. Nothing's changed since the 90s.

I look forward to it as usual. another DW game another silly beat em up, another game for reviewers to rag on because they expect beat em ups to be something else. Now they can't whine about no online co op in this one.

Shame that they couldn't have just added Da Qiao the first time around (back when 6 came out), if they were going to give her a different weapon.

Then again, Dynasty Warriors 5 was way worse at "character concept creep."

I don't know about "dinasty warriors" but I love Dynasty Warriors. Strikeforce was a nice change of pace for the franchise and hopefully the sequel will go deeper.
