When I first heard the news about Dynasty Warriors Gundam I had no clue what to think. It's been several months and I still have no clue what to think. Be that as it may, Koei and Namco Bandai Games have indeed teamed up to bring us a videogame in which robots from the future fight like Asians from the past. Trust it to Koei to bring a game worth playing to the PlayStation 3, and I'm not even being sarcastic there.
Dynasty Warriors is awesome, as I've preached in the past, and Destructoid loves robots with a metallic passion. While Koei's scary die-hard fan cult (of which I am a proud member) might be clamoring for a true new-gen Dynasty Warriors experience, I'm pretty interested in seeing if the second spin-off series of the old button mashing formula is any good. I'm sure the 10% of gamers who love this 'hit one button until things fall down' insanity will agree with me.

Meet the rest of the team
relik: Yeah, the Empires series has always been hailed as the best extension due to the strategy elements. While I wouldn't like the abandon the mindlessness of the main series, it's a very rewarding sideline.
Snaileb: SHUSH OVERLORD WILL BE GOOD DON'T RUIN IT FOR ME!
Exactly Garb. While it does look interesting, I'm a bit skeptic about it. DW's was pretty fun back in the day, but when a series very slowly evolves with nothing but mediocrity each and every game after it I'm not sure about this new game. Don't get me wrong though it definitely LOOKS cool. I'm just in the middle on this one.
So they reskin an already boring game so that people with bad taste in anime can do the same shit I was doing on my ps2 in 1997. When's the last time they even added a new game mechanic to the dynasty warrior series?
I love hack n' slash games, and have enjoyed Dynasty Warriors in the past... but I really think Koei has hurt themselves by pumping out sequel after sequel... Hell, I wouldn't complain about the minor upgrades if they weren't shovelled down our throats every 9 months.
Still, adding Gundams to the mix is a nice change.
I dloaded last night and played the demo 3 times, needless to say i loved it, course the gundam models on my walls might just bias my opinion, they are crual demanding masters they.
Wow, Destructoid is now using stuff from the KOEI Warriors site once again. The "DYNASTY WARRIORS GUNDAAAAAAAAAAAM!" bit was made from a banner on our site. Please aleast credit where you get the news from next time Jim. Thanks
Um. Okay. That's "This is Gundaaaaam". That's not what I put at all. I'd call it a coincidence, but seriously, it's not even that. A few a's? Get over yourself. I got the video from Gamevideos, which I picked up on one of my many trips to Gametab. For your information.
Oh, and for the record, I actually like your site and visit it once in a while. I'd have gladly linked you guys because I'm a fan of your shit, so even though I think you're being an ass here, thanks for a good site.
At one of the local games stores they have a PS2 and a PS3 to try games out. The PS2 had the latest Dynasty Warriors and the PS3 had this game. I live in Japan so the games they had out were not demoes but the whole games and when I played them, they felt exactly alike except for the obvious graphics difference. If you like Dynasty Warriors then you will like this game but as for me, I get bored of it after 5 minutes of Hack n' Slash. Although I can say I did enjoy playing Kingdom Under Fire, that was a damn fun game.

Just started DW5: Empires last night actually. I was surprised (In a good way) at how complex the strategy side to it is.
Snaileb: SHUSH OVERLORD WILL BE GOOD DON'T RUIN IT FOR ME!
If you're going to make the same fucking game every 6 months, at least make it LOOK good.
Geeks of Doom has a Transformers movie review up.
Monday night at 8pm can't come soon enough.
I am now officially hard until I get to hear Optimus Prime speak.
Still, adding Gundams to the mix is a nice change.
I wish I were playing PS2 in 1997 three years before its debut.
