Dynasty Warriors Gundam and the case of the missing XBL demo photo

In news that is sure to disappoint one person, that person being me, Namco Bandai announced a playable demo on Xbox Live for its collaboration with KOEI, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, only to deliver a big steaming plate of nothing. There were doubtless at least three Americans who think they're Japanese waiting to pretend to be robots, but sadly the announcement was a case of crossed wires. GamingTalkHQ must have had its own resident Dynasty nut, because they contacted Namco Bandai for the skinny and got this response:

"Please be advised that this press release was distributed pre maturely, and we are working to post the demo on the marketplace as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

How does that even happen? Perhaps they just got too excited by mass robot carnage to contain themselves. Now what am I going to do to satiate my need to be a giant robot that presses the X button repeatedly?

Kawitchate: Thanks for pointing that out. That was an incredible oversight on my part. Yeah, it's an XBL demo. I've edited it up. Thanks again.

Yes, I'm the one that wants to play a button masher of a giant robot game. Is that such a bad thing? The game will probably suck, but I'll at least demo it.

no problemo. i don't blame you though - every time i hear demo i think xbox too (so i don't think to quantify it as a 360 demo when talking with friends) because man, the demo offerings on PS3 are sparse at best...

PS3 got the Darkness Demo sooner too. I believe it's cause of MS's damn certification process.

You'll ruin it for us all, Pew! Silence your tongue!

In other news, a crazy Pervoid Disco-fiend was last seen committing Grand Theft Gundam on Char's red custom Zaku II, muttering, "Red makes it go faster, red makes it go faster, red makes it go faster"

Somewhere the Macross saga people are all pissed over this. Macross is the Jermaine Jackson of 80's anime.

I played the demo on the PS3. It makes no sense.

You're Heero Yui, working with Master Asia and Jerid Messa, and you kill a shitload of GMs, Zakus, and Gaza-Cs, with the occasional Guncannon. In the demo you fight Haman Karn, Elpe Puru, Zechs, Domon Kasshu, Kamille Bidan and Musha Gundam.

There's a plot or something, but it made no sense. It's still Dynasty Warriors though, and it has Gundams. That's all it needs.

Chieftan, the actual story that the game covers is equally butchered, but all in good fun.

I, however, had never heard of this. And upon learning of this I promptly fainted, woke up, and am absolutely stunned with disbelief. I simply cannot believe I haven't heard of this game until now. I've been enthralled by the 'Warriors games since the one on PS2, and an even BIGGER Gundam fan since way before that. This is fantastic news, and I can't wait for it to come out.

It is coming out in the U.S., right?!
