Dynasty Warriors crossbreeds with Souten Kouro for DLC photo

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires released last month and has been releasing a decent stream of free DLC. The content isn't exactly minblowing, consisting of new costumes and background music, but it's still pretty cool. Japanese fans, however, are going to get something a little more interesting, when the game unexpectedly collaborates with Souten Kouro, an anime show that I've never heard of because I don't write for Japanator.

Whether or not this comes to the West is anybody's guess, but the content is supposed to hit PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime this month. The Japanese-only Dynasty Warriors Online and Sangokushi Online are also expecting some tie-in love, taking the form of in-game events.

This is going to be a big deal to somebody, somewhere, so I'll just leave this story here for those few wretched individuals.

[Thanks, Andreas]

Unfortunately, this probably won't even make it over to the West. I'm sure it's just costumes from the anime anyways.

Jim, it's animated Dynasty Warriors. This could be your big break to finally work for Japanator like you always wanted.

In the first episode Cao Cao decapitates someone by stabbing a broken sword through his neck and jumping on it. Said head is then propelled around by its own arterial spray.

I don't know why I didn't bother watching the rest of it.

Say what? I totally sent to you a link and description of the first few episodes when it started airing cause I thought you might dig all the familiar characters. Looks like Jim's BIAS to moving pictures caused me to be ignored. ;)

This definitely won't make it to the West. We don't even get the Sengoku Basara games after they brought over Devil Kings (which completely ruined everything awesome about the game).

Never heard of it. And probably everybody in the west doesn't care.

Souten Kouro is essentially "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" (so unlike Dynasty Warriors it covers court intrigues and moments like Cao Cao and Yuan Shao being friends when they were young) with more focus on Cao Cao and a really, REALLY messed up version of what goes on. Then again, comic relief, long-eared Liu Bei in the anime is better than someone-else's-wife-eating, baby-tossing, long-eared Liu Bei from the source material. (Now you know why Liu Bei spams "For the people/virtue" in Dynasty Warriors so much!)

"In the first episode Cao Cao decapitates someone by stabbing a broken sword through his neck and jumping on it. Said head is then propelled around by its own arterial spray."

That's nothing compared to Lu Bu's debut in this anime... where his lord before Dong Zhuo is literally, fatally propelled into the ceiling by Lu Bu's ''electric awesome''.

Turns out that the DLC for DW6E is Cao Cao and Liu Bei:

Apparently DWO will introduce a wall painting of a young Cao Cao from the anime, and for Sangokushi Online it's a blue club with a yin-yang on the end, along with the in-game events in both.
