Koei has revealed, by way of Famitsu, that Dynasty Warriors 7 will not only be bringing back split-screen co-op, it will also boast online co-operative play. This marks the first time a main entry (not a spin-off) into the Dynasty Warriors series gets a proper online mode. Koei, welcome to the current generation of games!
Co-op will be supported in the game's "Chronicle Mode" which feature one-off levels based around an individual warriors as opposed to a kingdom.
In other news, Ding Feng has been announced as a brand new playable character. Looking at the scan, he appears to be sporting corn rows which is ... different. Newly revealed returning characters are Zhou Yu, Sun Ce, Cao Ren, Huang Zhong, Meng Huo, and Zhu Rong.
My penis has become engorged with blood, achieving erectile state, at this news. Stay tuned to see if any pre-cum leaks out!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Jim, I know you're a die-hard fan, I had friends in high school who loved the series, too. I just don't see how much, if anything, has changed over the years to warrant so many sequels.
that's pretty much the same thing as saying why do fighting games sell decently well when it's the same thing over and over? Same could be said for anything really.
The fanbase it there. (mainly Europe and Japan), gameplay is intact and overall doesn't change. (minus DW6). Though the gameplay difference between the games is more on moveset and adding a few supporting gameplay features. The story is inaccurately accurate to the point it's not boring but not too interesting. It's a hack n slash. You can only change so much without alienating your audience.
and now that there's online co-op, people can find another reason to bitch about not liking this game still. (I guess everyone still has the "IM ONLY MASHING A BUTTON" option now.)
Of course if they called it 'soulless online button mashing frenzy' it probably wouldn't sell as well.
Clean your jerk towel.
