Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires has some videos photo

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires launches next week, bringing the new weapons from Dynasty Warriors 6: Special, a full-on strategy mode and a character edit function to the game. I'm playing the game right now, and so far I like what I've been seeing. One of the big additions to the game is a new playable warrior, Meng Huo. He was strangely absent from DW6, but he's returned in all his half-naked glory, and Koei has released a video of him in action.

There are also two vids of the character editing mode, showing you how to make your very own Dynasty Warriors. I'll hold off on opinions until my review hits, but all I'll say is that you can make Sephiroth ... yet somehow have him turn out even camper and sillier than he was in Final Fantasy VII.

Hit the jump for the footage.

Meng Huo looks like he's riding a dog when he's on the horse.

I can't tell if the burly dude is Native American or African. I think he's African...

Technically he's Nanman. I have no idea what look Koei is going for though.

Never liked the nanman story. Zhu rong was hot though.
And why the hell does he have a stone pillar as a weapon now? His old bear claw things were awesome.
Jim: What are the actual differences between this and DW5:E ? I'll buy it regardless, just curious.

These games are the high point of repitive mediocrity in the games industry. I'm all about good games, but I hate FF just as much for it lack resting itself and doing something else.

Dress the emperor up in new clothes, be they Gundam or Ancient Greece (I'll give it a chance) and the fools will come to buy. Koei have been running on this empty carcass for far too long.

Now don't get me wrong. The one thing I hope comes from the Koei Tecmo merger, is that Koei learn to make OTHER GAMES, based upon NEW GAME DESIGN CONCEPTS, beyond bs they have been serving for the last decade. Nice try with Fatal Inertia, but that failure is one to learn from, not one to let you regress back to DW version 3578. I sometimes wonder if this is due to another japanese developer having problems with the 2d to 3d transition of game design. They seem so scared to abandon this template for something new.

Tecmo have a lot of vision (well, enough to get by). We need only look at Metroid Other M, to see that they understand what they are doing, to create a compelling fun game. Koei, I heard didn't know about this game until E3, if so its just as well. I pray Tecmo don't fall into the mediocrity pit, because Koei have made such a low risk home, their island of ignorant bliss.

Continue on though, DW fans. Each to their own.

I love it when people who don't play DW games whine about how repetitive the games are. DW6 was a huge change from the other games in the series, and I'll probably buy this one just to play as Zhang He with claws and Guan Ping with the huge sword.

I'll probably wait until it goes down in price, though. I just recently bought DW: Gundam and I've pretty much got my DW fix for a while.

WTF is this?! It was a stretch in the first place to consider Meng Huo a Nanman and now he's...whatever the hell that is. Also Meng Huo was kind of a pussy anyways.
