Xbox360fanboy recently got the opportunity to tour Silicon Knights and talk to President of the company, Denis Dyack. In the interview with Dyack it was revealed that Too Human hasn’t been in development for a decade. In fact, Dyack staunchly denies the industry consensus.
I cannot dispel that rumor enough. That is a bad way to talk about Too Human because that is factually incorrect.
According to Dyack, the game began development right after Silicon Knights shipped Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes in 2004. Which means that Too Human was never shown at E3 in 1999, a teaser trailer wasn’t shown in 2000, or any comments about the game before 2004 never occurred.
Perhaps Dyack started counting when Silicon Knights officially put in the “sliding” mechanic in the game, which probably happened as a result of the lawsuit with Epic. More than likely he’s probably considering anything pre-Xbox 360 as pre-production, which is a cool way of saying “in development” without actually saying “development” or “in.”

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
On a related note, there are a lot of games out now that draw us back into the awesome Norse pantheon. Could we be nearing Ragnarok? Discuss.
In the end though, TH should be judged for what it is, not for the time it took to make it.
I walked into a PnT when it came out and played it for about 20 minutes or so, wasn't impressed so I bought a few retro games instead... went back to same PnT and one of the employees had been playing for 30ish hours on the game... it looked EXACTLY THE SAME... the stage, the guy, the same shitty control system... that's when I was officially unimpressed with this game...
Besides, bashing the guy at every turn does absolutely nothing and I’ll give you two reasons why:
1. He will still make money from this game and eventually have more money than most of us reading this and;
2. He will still be allowed to take eons to make another game which in turn still allows him to make money only to make more games.
Also, loading a U-Haul truck in the wake of a tropical storm sucks ass....
You're not helping yourself anymore. Just be glad the game didn't come out completely awful like Lair, and KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. Seriously, dude. Move on already.
A whole 20 minutes? Wow! Good for you, must of been hard getting over the 5 minute hurdle of your attention span.
Of course we all know playing a game for 20 mins in a game store is the best possible way to get into something.
Hey...let's go to the movies, that way we can walk out after 20 minutes and say it's crap!
I'll even buy the popcor.
Dolt...
Face it, you made an unsuccessful game, get over it, it happens to everyone. Sure that's a loose representation of what it means to have a failed game, but all this talk he's doing isn't helping the game play better.
KGBrAm:Dolt...
The fuck is your problem, KGBrAm? He said he wasn't impressed. That, and his observation that the game looked the same after somebody put around thirty hours into it. He just stated his opinion on the game, nothing more.
According to your theory, we should only be entitled to the decision of buying/being interested in a game after we bought and finished it...
WHY can't Microsoft STOP this guy from talking?
The first time 'LittleBigPlanet' was unveiled was at GDC '06. It has been about two and a half years since then. That is not really an uncommon amount of time for development nowadays.
Also, lol @ Dyack.
Now it is damn true that some of the things he says in defence of Too Human have been pulled straight out of his arse such as the comment in this post but in the end he has put literally years into this game and wants people to like it. His intentions are good - every artist has the right to defend their work, even if it is a huge pile of crap - but his methods in defending his work such as making all sorts of comments that exhalt his game and himself are simply not right.
I just don't like all these people that are insulting the man directly and personally for his comments. It's crass, rude and just not nice. Critique his work as much as you like, it's defenitely encouraged. However it does not give you a right to insult the poor guy.
I mean seriously if u knew it was shit then why not fix it rather than disspointing fans and wasting time.
