Dust 514 is looking like a promising project. It's a first-person tactical shooter set in the EVE Online universe and it's also coming to home consoles. This is the HD debut trailer for the game and, as you can see, it's certainly something that Halo fans will feel right at home with.

Seems like it could be quite cool, and I really like the idea that battles fought in Dust 514 will actually affect the EVE MMO. We'll have to see how all that works before getting too excited, but it seems as if a very solid FPS is in the works. Check out the trailer and lt us know what you think.

[Thanks Andreas]

Looks more like Killzone 2 than Halo IMO... hmm, which generic shooter would YOU prefer it to emulate?

I'm pretty sure Jim's Halo comment wasn't meant to be taken literally peeps...

I'd heard about this from some of my EVE going friends and I'm glad to finally get an idea of what it's going to look like. I didn't know that the battles featured in the Dust were going to effect the MMO though. A nice touch, will give the guys at CCP another medium to develop the EVE background.

I can't see it at work, but it looks like a generic FPS/TPS to me.

How much have they [FPS]really changed in the last decade? Adding "RPG" elements of gaining levels and getting access to more gear and HPs?

Personally, I like Quake I the best because of the NIN music. Does this look better then Quake?

Call me a... one of those things you call people who don't like generic FPSs, but this looks like pants. I really, really couldn't think of a more sterile trailer for a game.

I want a game where you play as a hippie, all doped up and gay, where you have to plant flowers and make origami cranes for orphans and use stealth to sneak up on people and give them surprise hugs.

wonder why atari didn't throw its logo on the trailer.. this is the game that they are putting all there "new image" money into from what i read.

also, any game that adds to the universe of any other game is win in my book..

It's more Modern Warefare than Halo, if you honestly think this looks like halo, then tell me where all the pew pew pew weapons are. Just because it takes place in the future doesn't make it halo, hell, I don't even see any aliens. Do you?

Wow, looks like I've finally found another shooter to play... Looks tantalizing to say the least. Can't say it has much in common with Halo but that vid was JUICY.

Reminds me more of Killzone 2. If they make the integration work well it would be rather cool. Thought it would make xbox 360 users the pawns of PC users. And the PC users would be pissed everytime they lost because of 360 users.

Trailer looked majorly CG-ed. Therefore I'm withholding judgment until I see some serious product. That demo video posted looks pretty okay, but it's clearly very early in production. I'll be keeping my eye on this, though. The whole EVE universe integration has a LOT of potential.

You people needed to get a fucking clue and read up on this project before spouting any more fucking garbage out of your noise holes.

What this game is doing is something unprecedented.

I finally got around to signing up for EVE Online recently. I enjoy a good, competitive FPS and I'll check this out. I'm a little concerned because I prefer fast-paced multiplayer games and this looks like it may be more along the lines of CoD and its ilk. I love the CoD single player experiences, but I prefer the speed of a Quake or Halo for my multiplayer gaming.

@Monster w21 faces

Where else can I read about the ground breaking FPS/RTS besides HERE http://www.eveonline.com/pressreleases/default.asp?pressReleaseID=60

Is it any different then SOE's Planetside?
http://planetside.station.sony.com/

Not bagging on your thoughts on D514, but what is so unprecedented about it? Can you link to your EVE account and using money from there to help in your land battles? SO far it sounds like a MMO FPS with some RTS somehow involved with it. Which sounds like Planetside to me.

I'm a 360 fanboy, and even I have to say Killzone 2 looks WAY better then this crap. This has a 720p Halo 3 bland textures vibe all over it.

I dunno I thought Halo too, that dropship caused massive de ja vu and the warthog that skidded out when he looked down. But this is going to be rather different. It seems like it might be a kind of MMO like FPS going from the demo vid. But I don't care, don't play Halo, Don't play Killzone, don't play EVE, won't play this.

Yay, now I can play halo on my ps3 hopefully. jk.

But yea looks totally like Halo, but hopefully they make better textures if they're gonna release this on ps3. Even Resistance 2 makes this look pretty bland.

Aside from the running, I don't see any real resemblance to Killzone 2, that's kinda an insult to Killzone 2's graphics.

@Ganjookie

Dust links with EVE.

When EVE players want to claim a planet or sector for themselves it sets up servers for Dust. The outcome of the battles in Dust then decide whether an EVE insurrection is successful or not.

EVE players will also be financing the actions of their infantry devisions. It's a symbiotic relationship being two completely different styles of game that manages to benefit both sets of players.

It is something very special.

The fleet does the flying the infantry does the dieing.
