Duplicates ordered: Fatal Frame II and III reprinted

Duplicates ordered: Fatal Frame II and III reprinted video game

Ah, the wishy-washy world of rare game collecting. It's a real bitch these days. Here latetly, it seems that my collection of rare PS2 games are all going the way of the dodo. Let's not even talk about REZ.

Some of my most prized games are from the Fatal Frame a-camera-is-your-only-weapon survival horror series. These titles, all PS2 games, range in availability. But good, clean copies usually fetch a decent price, and mint copies go for even more. I have always displayed my perfectly mint, semi-rare copies of these games with gamer pride. And that's why I tried my best to ignore buzzings of a reprint of Fatal Frame II and III.

Siliconera had to go and rub it in my face, and the good deal that Cheap Ass Gamer presents us hurts the collector in me even more. That's right:  Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly and Fatal Frame III: The Tormented are now available thanks to a reprint, and CAG has a coupon code that lets you nab II for only $29.99. That deal ends today, so you had better get a move on.

In the end, I think this is a good thing. Both of these Fatal Frame games are incredible titles, totally deserving of their sought-after status. If a reprint means that more gamers the the privelage of playing these great (and freaky) titles, then I'm all for it.

Semi-NSFW Fatal Frame hentai-ish picture after the jump.

Necros: Honestly, I think reprints are good, just so more people can buy the game instead of pirating it. That said, they better not reprint the PS1's Valkyrie Profile, I spent $100 on that game.   more

I was going to cblog this the other day, but I didn't know there was a big enough following for anyone to care. Then again, I bailed out on the PS2 (and games in general) pretty early.

My only question is...do I need to play Fatal Frame 1 before 2 & 3 and the eventual 4?

IIRC 2 is a prequel, never played 3 as it never came out for Xbox like the first two.

I feel your pain..I have both as well, and REZ and Guitaroo Man and that made the jump to PSP. Is it selfish to just not want them to reprint them so you can show off??

I heard about this a week ago, and immediately ordered #3. I own 1 and 2, and had stupidly waited for 3 to drop in price before picking it up (it came out at a time when money was a little tight). I soon learned that it became a rare find, and people were asking $60+ for it on eBay.

All I wanted to do was play the damn game.

So when I heard it was being reprinted, I rejoiced. Don't worry...I only ordered 1 copy, so I won't be contributing to the resells on eBay. I learned my lesson with other games: it ain't worth selling off your collection, no matter what. I still lament my decision to sell Deception 1-3.

There are some of my favorite titles of all time. I just scored a copy of 3 this past weekend at Gamestop.

Also, that pictures makes me squirm. In a good way.

Y0j1mb0 - I almost cited Gitaroo man too.

I must ask, why do games like these go out of print? I can understand why a licensed game (like, say, Marvel vs. Capcom 2) or a game for an obsolete system (like, say, any good non sports game for the Dreamcast) can go out of print. But something like this, Rez, Guitaroo Man, Persona 3, these games have no excuse.

moemoemoemoemoe...

Just get Fatal Frame 2 Directors Cut on XBox, more content and it can play on the 360. FFrame 1 is also BC compatible. Now if only they made FFrame 3 cheaper for the PS2 I would get it immediately.

I'm a huge fan of Illbleed, and the Fatal Frame games always struck me as being similar in a way. I'm buying II now.

Thank God! I have 1 & 2 but missed out on 3. I thought I would never get it unless I paid like $100, which I refuse to do for a PS2 game. I'll definitely grab a copy of 3.

After Ff1 i missed out on FF2&3 so...

I loved Project Zero (Fatal Frame) 1 and I loved 2 as well but the first will always be my favourite. Just going around in that creepy frigging mansion while the lights are turned out and its night time and nobody is in the house.... frigging awesome experience.

I will definitely get Project Zero 3 (they still sell it here in some stores) but it looks a little like a rehash of the first and second put together.

Anywho

Eh... the first two are on X-Box actually. Also they are reprinting them at $50? Fuck that, shouldn't these be value releases now?
MissHinasaki's Avatar
Holy fuck. It took me a year to track down a used copy of 3 for a decent price. Fucking ridiculous! But this is my favorite serious. I might just might go out and buy some nice new copies though...
CypherVR's Avatar
There was a compilation for Fatal frame, only in JP though :/ -but, you'll have to dig around

I sent them an email concerning it and asked about purchasing a US ver of said compilation. They replies that there isn't much of an instal base to warrant a re-release in america.

Plus it's nice to know that i'm buying the games that isn't over-inflated, or bundled with the other FatalF games or others at an extreme price
