Yeah, that was my first thought. But they usually do a good job on sequels, like KOTOR 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. They never stray too far from the original, usually to a fault, but they're still fitting sequels.

Thinking about checking this out.... love rpgs and say what you will, but I like Obsidian's Games and their decision making. KOTOR II, Never Winter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol and Fallout New Vegas I liked them all
I finished the original way back when. I remember constantly having to baby the inventory system and being annoyed by how detached the player seems to be from the combat. I also got really ticked off by how many goddamned pieces of armor and weapons would drop that were 20 levels too high for you, but you would feel bad about dropping, thus exacerbating my hatred of the inventory screen.
That said, it was pretty awesome and I was hopelessly addicted to it. Can't wait for this.

Also I can't fucking believe people like Obsidian sequels. Seriously, have any of you guys that liked KotOR 2 played the original? Or have you seen how awfully Obsidian butchered the fantastic Neverwinter Nights? Yeah, with 4365 patches and a lot of MOD content their games become good, but correct me if I'm wrong, games are supposed to be good on release?????

Bliztard, I loved KOTOR 2 and NWN2. I liked KOTOR 1 a lot, but maybe liked 2 more. I didn't care much for NWN 1.

Though Bioware is always more polished, the complexity of Obsidians stories and game mechanics pull me in as well.

Will be ordering this for sure. Really enjoyed DS, thought DS2 was "ok", new graphics seemed just wrong somehow (too busy?) but had it's moments...looking forward to Obsidian's take on the franchise.
And I enjoyed their NWN games...were they perfect, no...but had fun playing them.
So it's looking like STEAM or Gamestop since I have the previous game on disc ;)
